Worlds worst cheap shot

Featured Replies

Ok' date=' I'm going to play the role of unpopular devil's advocate. If you have an opponent that is mercilessly running up a score , and both you and your opponent know you you don't have the skill to stop them, is there any point at which a "cheap shot" becomes appropriate? I say if your opponent is overtly looking to humiliate you, I say yes there is![/quote']

I do not agree. If one team can't stop another , then either get better or give up the sport!

No. It's NEVER OK to try to hurt another player' date=' especially with a blatant cheap shot.[/quote']

Wonder it any lawyers are on this thread. A deliberate cheep shot, and one tang is against the rules. If a player get is serious injury do to a deliberate cheep shot, is the player and parents of the one who have the cheep shot responsible?

Glad you don't ref any longer because that's not your job as an official. Call the game as played.

Agree! Wow and to admit fixing a game on a public forum. Is that against the law?

Fixing a game? Really? He said they were blowouts. I don't think his call to prevent it from being an even bigger blowout hardly counts as "fixing a game."

Yes' date=' the other team hits the other teams best player, in baseball. So, they single out the kicker....I guess we know why the score was what it was... I guess based on the number of times Raceland has ran up the score on teams(based on the post), why is anyone surprised someone ran it up on them? Even though it doesn't look like they were.[/quote']

Raceland has never ran up the score on anyone in, at least, the past five years. However, last year during the Grewnup/Raceland game, the Rams had taken out all of their starters and had 22 JV and freshman players playing. Raceland had the ball and there was an entire fourth quarter left (11:30 left). Greenup had all of their starters in until at around the 7 minute mark when our coaches were wanting them to take out their starters. So, we threw a pass and the GC secondary missed a tackle and we scored. However, after that, GC too their starters out and received the message.

I'm curious and would love to see some footage of Raceland kickers getting cheap shots like that' date=' also as far as the bolded, it really doesn't matter if everyone knew why it occured, it is still dirty and cheap...just sayin[/quote']

I will give you footage as long as I can find it.

How about the DB who was playing the softest coverage I've ever seen.

The DB was a senior and had injured his ankle earlier in the first half and tried his best to play through it. He did, but was unable to run, only pass the ball (our QB as well). It wasn't soft, he was waiting for the clock to hit 0:00.

None of this condones the late hit. It was a late hit. And it is a little embarrassing for the Ram fans. But you don't pass that late in the game. Period. Idc if you're Phelps, not to knock on Phelps, just trying to prove a point, or the New England Patriots, no team passes when you're up like that. It's not classy. I personally don't have very much respect for the W'Burg coaching staff for other reasons, this kind of adds to it.

It is all about class. The player who hit the kicker got an ear full of it. I know Coach Salmons very well and he did handle the situation and I wouldn't be surprised if he suspended him from team actions for a few weeks. However, I don't know if he will, just a possibility. Raceland never reached this, ever. The kid was frustrated and let his emotions get to him. Happens often to any team and happens every year.

I just find it amazing that this thread is even a thread. I believe that GCR Hoops is just trying to look for something to get started but I may be wrong. The way you are going about this argument/point you're trying to make seems like you are knocking on either the Rams or the Raceland posters. Either way, I find it, in itself, classless just as the hit is. But that isn't my business. I think you're right that it was a bad and late hit and was classless. But making it over dramatized as "Worst...Ever" is a bit much. I, personally, think you're trying to start something with the Raceland posters because of the incidents and comments in the Johnson Central and Belfry threads and I find a little immature to try and start something else because you haven't gotten your way. Nevertheless, maybe not. Maybe I am incorrect. Just looks like you're storing the pot and seeing what it might taste like after you stir it a little more. I hope I'm wrong.

The hit was wrong. He was punished correctly. The pass and score was wrong. And that will also get treated correctly.

Messed was hurt on a cheap shot out of bounds with the intent to gator roll until his leg broke .. I just watched the film on FB.

I'm with you both.....
I would commend the coach for the way he handled it. He was obviously upset and I'm not sure what I would have done in that situation with him. But he seemed to stay pretty calm (for what he saw) and actually looked like he turned it into a teaching moment, which is what good coaches do. He could have very easily drug him off the field by the face mask, but he seemed to handle it very well. Kudos to the coach, for at least what was visible on the screen.

From the video it appeared the coach handled it properly and he demonstrated how to act when things aren't going the way you would like, good example.

Still a cheap shot.

It may have, probably was but as another has said - it was flagged and the young man that used the poor judgement was reprimanded by his coach. I certainly wish that it wouldn't have happened but I am against calling out a h.s. kid on a thread/forum. That's ANY h.s. kid, from any school.

I am not putting you or anyone else down with that comment, was just my feelings on it.

I hope that the young man injured will recover, be fine.

BTW ...The Raceland Radio Crew commented on How Quick that Coach Salmons and staff took the kid aside, no doubt reprimanding him. They also commented on the play that saw a Rams player "seemingly" hit late / out of bounds.

Little bit of different story there isn't it?

Yep.

This isn't calling him out for a Dropped Pass or Blown Coverage. Even a H.S. kid should be called out for that kind of stuff.

Hope the kid heals quickly, it's tough playing on one foot, gutzy to try and grind it out for his team.
