I think this is the play where Reece Ryan was ruled down at the 1 yard line. I thought he got in.

 

Picture does look like one that would be used to illustrate an illegal horse collar, huh?

I am going to guess this is not the picture from that 4th down incomplete pass.

 

Robbins fundaments are pretty good in this picture and my guess is that this pass was completed.

He was looking down field early in the play. I told the TV crew they are going for it - and they did. This but pressure forced Robbins to swing way to right and 12 had come back to make him self open.

Final result. You can see he was on the run and not planted.

It looked like a horse collar from my seat but he was marked down at the 1 yard line so it ended up not having an impact on the game.

Still photos can be tricky. Robbins never got inside the pad. The two wrestled all the way down to the goal line and knocked over the pylon. Some were saying Ryan go it. But they marked it at the 1. Its not the NFL with instance replay from 5 different angles. With Robbins playing both ways this play showed the determination by both young men. PP92 said it was shootout, and it was. But at times it was an old fashioned western dual between two very good quarterbacks.

A picture with a positive tone in good form. Over 300 yards passing on the night. Very, very impressive.

He put a sick-sick move on the corner to get open. Happened right in front of me. Very impressive move.

The differences came down to the red zone stops. LexCath was 2 for 2 in the red zone but kept Boyle out on two occasions with the missed FG and a very stout stand inside the 10 late in the game.

 

Losing the fumble late in the game hurt the Knights but they were extremely lucky to recover the fumble at the end zone for a TD. Had Boyle gotten that red zone stop things take a different turn. Like all dynamic close games so many things did come into play.

I think he was going to run for it until he saw how wide open Hinkle was.

Here is maybe a basic answer. He was getting closed in on by a defender and had to throw off balance. He did everything he could to keep that play alive.

Considering he is out of the pocket and scrambling for his life, his fundamental form is good and his release point seems to be correct. If this throw sailed on him, it is a result of being a little too pumped up in the moment.

 

If it was fourth and two with ample time on the clock, tucking the ball and keeping it might have been a better decision. Easy to say after analyzing and reviewing some 15 hours after the game. This kid had to make a split second decision and I am sure he would love to have a "do over".

 

This talented young man will grow from this and come back next year and have a super year. He had an outstanding game last night.

Good Job Catholic. Great game by both teams, wish this could of been the game to send either team to state. Who does Catholic have coming back next year? I know Boyle returns a lot and should be right back in this game next year. I also must add that having Garrard county in the district next year it will be some wars, I know they return a lot also. This district is gonna be fun the next 4 yrs!
