Lawnboy13 Posted November 15, 2014 Posted November 15, 2014 The Breds Varsity and JV played at Cincinnati Elder this morning, and both were victorious. Both were 5 quarter games. Varsity Game NewCath 17-22-19-09-07---75 Elder.......06-13-12-10-09---50 So. Luke Moeves Jr. Robby Stoelting Jr. Brian Anderson Jr. John Ludwig Jr. Ben Weyer Sr. Zach Pangallo Sr. Seth Freppon Sr. Drew McDonald Sr. Grant Moeves Besides the (4) usual suspects, sharpshooter, John Ludwig gets the starting nod. Pangallo was Pangallo, knocking down treys and pull up jumpers. Grant Moeves nailing trey-balls, explodes to the rack, and GREAT speed on some steals. His younger brother, Luke Moeves, can drain the 3-ball as well. McDonald did a great job on the Elder "giant", had at least 2-3 inches and 20-30 lbs on Drew. He also had some great passes as well as knocking down the outside shot. Seth Freppon played some great "D", love the way he gets to the glass, kid gives it his all. :thumb: Ben Weyer, IMO, best player on the floor today. Drives to the basket, post up and score, treys, pull-up jumpers, blocks, rebounds, and two dunks (one off his steal and the other on a great assist from McDonald). Even though it was just a scrimmage, McDonald and Weyer are going to be a force :scared: JV Game Fr. Brennen Hall Fr. Steven Pangallo So. Trent Wrobleski So. Trey Wurtz So. Brian Wells Jr. John Ludwig Jr. Brian Anderson Jr. Robby Stoelting NewCath 07-15-09-08-17---56 Elder.......08-10-15-06-16---55 NewCath scores the final 7 points in this one, and the Breds "D" doesn't allow Elder to get off a shot at the buzzer. Great team effort in this one, especially with the pressure "D" on the press, GREAT job guys. Brennen Hall with a 2, 3, & a "sweet" assist on the other 1st quarter bucket. However, two players that stood out to me in this scrimmage were Sophomores Trent Wrobleski & Trey Wurtz. Wrobleski was great on the boards at both ends, played great "D", and had some really nice buckets. Wurtz (Drew McDonalds cousin) looks like he has grown an inch or two over the past year, and did a great job on the glass and has a smooth stroke from anywhere on the floor.
MentschTrachtGottLacht Posted November 16, 2014 Posted November 16, 2014 .. Nice start for the Breds.
Lawnboy13 Posted November 16, 2014 Author Posted November 16, 2014 .. Nice start for the Breds. While only a scrimmage, Breds looked real good. :thumb:
Just Jim Posted November 17, 2014 Posted November 17, 2014 No doubt the Breds will be tough this year. Grant Moeves doesn't get the pub since he has 3 other players on the team that are top 10 in the region. He is a top 10 player. 6'3"-6'4", fast and has worked out hard to get in great shape. Should have a big year.

If you get a team that takes Pangallo out of the game or if Pangallo gets in foul trouble that's a problem for NCC. Other than that, kid can play and has a strong body.
Lawnboy13 Posted November 17, 2014 Author Posted November 17, 2014 Looking forward to seeing them Saturday. Looking forward to finally meeting you after 2 "close calls". :thumb::lol2:

Muscular for sure but not thick. He played point guard most of his days til last year. He is fine handling the ball and I'm sure will make some better decisions with the ball this year. He's right handed and shoots the 3 lefty.

Agree, I ran into him and his Dad at La Fitness a couple months ago and he looked like he has picked up some muscle and stood around 6'3.
Walter Posted November 17, 2014 Posted November 17, 2014 From seeing the Breds in practice the other day, I think Ben Weyer might be their best all around player. Kid is so active at both ends and so long and athletic. He had a couple nice dunks in transition. McDonald is going to do damage from the high post and free throw line with his passing ability. Him and Pangallo are one of the best guard/big passing duos in the state. Speaking of Pangallo, kid was stroking from outside. That added aspect to his game is going to make him tough to defend. Play up on him and he will blow by you with his quickness. Sag off and he has improved his jumper enough to consistently knock down the three. I really like his defense too. Him and Liam Rabe are probably the only two point guards in the area that I'd put against Bolden one on one with no help. Moeves strength is going to be going to the rim. Strong and athletic and able to finish through contact. Streaky shooter from outside.
TAC Posted November 17, 2014 Posted November 17, 2014 Sounds like a great outing by the Breds. Do the Breds have any footballers this year? Was Elder missing kids?
Rez Posted November 17, 2014 Posted November 17, 2014 If they can get those 3 kids to contribute on top of the Big 4 then they are easily a top 5 team in the state. Maybe top 2.
