Thanks for posting the whole quote. And while that does change it slightly, the only difference I see is that he said he felt for Gardner. Still seems to me that he's insinuating he hoped for injuries for the other two, and if nothing else, the comment was still in poor taste.

 

Fans of opposite teams are going to see comments like these differently. That's just how it is. But the fact that it wasn't only UofL fans that had a problem with it says something, IMO.

The posts you quoted were discussing if the roles were reversed in terms of who said the comments and where they were directed... Where would we find UK fans comments to "prove it?"

They're not terrible. UK fans just have certain qualities when they travel in packs and one of those qualities is an allergy to criticism or the smallest slight or offense.

 

Remember when the internet almost crashed in Kentucky because the Courier-Journal had the nerve to print a cartoon about Nerlens Noel's knee injury and how it might effect Kentucky postseason hopes?

 

Reactions on BGP tend to be more measured. That's a good thing and a consequence of the atmosphere the well-managed boards here tend to foster... but let's not pretend like Overzealous Reactionary Fanbase Theatre wasn't drawn on people I've known my entire life. It was a made up response to a made-up hypothetical but which has very real roots in things I've heard come out of the mouths of Big Blue Nationers since the day I was old enough to know I was wearing red.

I agree that what he said was a bit much, but to have your views of him completely reversed, as some of you have indicated, based on literally two sentences is equally absurd. Think of how many times you have said something that was dumb, and then ask yourself how many people would you be able to call a friend if those people had reversed their opinion of you based on what you had just said.

Sounds like your sympathy for Will was a lot less than Jared. In the other thread you said it sucks for Will but you liked Reggie at QB better.

I think that's fair. There's no doubt in my mind that my opinion of UK fans in general has a lot to do with being a Louisville fan in Jefferson County and dealing with this rivalry every single day in a way that I don't know if people from elsewhere in the Commonwealth fully understand.
