Write-up from the Courier.

 

Scott's coach blames the "not being consistent" calls. Poor form.

 

He actually said this was the worst defensive performance of the year.... did not want to point any fingers... and then blamed it on the calls not being consistent. I will at least give him credit for having an interesting take on things.

 

I think he should consider watching the tape.

The other thing I noticed tonight was how the Scott kids appeared to ignore the CR when he was giving them a Yellow. I thought it was customary for the player to go to the CR, stand there, as if to take your punishment and then leave the field. Most of the time tonight, the Scott players ignored him and just walked away, to me, this shows total disrespect for the ref.

Can you re watch the second half of game? If so where is the link? It appears the Scott team northern Kentucky has had to watch all year showed back up in the finals.

I do believe that center ref gave Treadway his red earlier in the season at a tournament Scott played in, but I'm not positive.

 

That puts him in a pretty big club this year then. Obviously this is tongue and cheek but really?

 

The red called a ridiculous amount of fouls and gave an equally ridiculous amount of cards not because he was a poor official but because he had to and even then it didn't stop the players at all. The fact that you can't see that is disturbing. You aw grasping at straws and need to re evaluate this. The game was a poor show of sportsmanship from both teams and the KHSAA would be well within their rights I think to discipline both schools severely.

What happened to Scott tonight was that they finally faced an opponent who would give it right back. They couldn't throw BG off their game with the same shenanigans that have worked on so many other teams. Shout out to BG for bringing the fire and intensity to combat this! What's there really to say about the ejections, especially from Mr. UK? Scott was finally able to taste their own medicine and threw a screaming tantrum when they didn't get their way. The bully is squashed. Scott can no longer hurt you anymore.

 

 

Interesting.... Scott is dirty blah blah blah... All I hear is how dirty Scott was... But somehow BG is commended for giving it right back. They brought the 'fire and intensity to combat ...." I find this absolutely the truth. As a coach, I tell my kids not to back down and do everything I can to get them to play with intensity. BG did the same as Scott tonight and vice versa. BG was smarter in they took a few more dives but in the end. BG just made some terrific plays to get the win. Referee did a great job for what he was having to deal with. That's two teams wanted this title very badly.

 

Both teams went at each other like they were playing for a championship which was enjoyable to watch these young men go at it. I know.... these 17 year olds showed their butts....hmmmmm sounds kind of familiar reading all the trash the adults are writing on here. Now you guys are the great examples.

 

By the way, I saw great sportsmanship from both teams after they battled one another.

 

Congrats to both teams! I would take Treadway, #5 for BG and several of these other kids on my teams any day and just tell you guys to stay away. I would win a lot too and enjoy hearing you cry.

The soccer gods have their way of working things out, thank you soccer gods for not having the most cheap, dirty team represent this Commonwealth as champion. Why does everybody on this board try to equate everything representing N.KY? I honestly hope that something good comes out of such a poor display of sportsmanship. Are KHSAA, district and school officials looking at this and wondering how to better control a team? What a disgrace and what a disgrace that the game was-- streamed live and will be on the KHSAA site in perpetuity. I am not from NKY and I am damn glad that Scott is not representing this state. I would seriously question anyone who feels any sort of pride for a team who calls what they do "soccer"?

Dummy......I understand your points and as I mentioned, we saw some unbelievable plays by very talented players and what coach wouldn't want those players...extremely talented.

 

However.....I would argue that as soon as they were on your team you would work to add discipline to stop the fighting amongst themselves, arguing with the refs, to he point that it affects play.....at one point I saw 4 players arguing with the AR.......one time did I see it done correctly....Morgan, and after his discussion during a time stoppage , #5 received his second yellow. ....

 

The Scott team that played the first 40 minutes represented themselves and their school very well......it kind of fell apart after BG tied it up. My guess Dummy, is that, as a coach, you would have introduced discipline during the year and this game so that things don't fall apart during adversity......

I'm pretty sure the Scott team bus knocked off a gas station and ran over a little old lady on the way out of the parking lot.

Well Bobby, if Scott's team ever gets past purgatory, they will get to meet your Holy Trinity Saints...you know the team that was sent straight to soccer heaven by those dirty Scott Devils....this is nothing but sour grapes. Like it or not, it's a man's game, played by very young men who play their hearts out. The reality of THE GAME is that to be successful, you have to be tough. I don't know what the final tally in fouls/yellows was for the game, but it was pretty darn rough on both sides. BG had better control of the ball, more overall talent, and made more plays. Pretty simple. Don't turn the Scott kids into anything more than players with passion....

Back to the game........a tale of two games....

 

The first half, Scott's big three had the BG defense on their heels. Morgan, Treadway and Schneider each had goals and were working together. In the second half, BG did something that took Schneider out of the play. Not sure if they man marked him, or something else, but with only one player (T) to guard up top, they were able to attack....and attack they did.

 

BG took advantage of the defense and had some very nice finishes, but they were usually made by unmarked players.....

 

For BG......why would you give perhaps the two most talented restart players so many chances to do their work ......treadways knuckle bar restart that went in, Morgan's ace that skimmed along inside the top crossbar.......and both occurred because of unnecessary fouls .....Scott's other two goals were on a great run by Morgan, but they let him bring the ball beyond the mid field into the box and made them pay.....Schneiders was on a nice hustle play by Treadway, but a horrible clear by BG that resulted in a trap and quick shot in the box...."

The 10 goals in this game would make a season's worth of highlights reel for most high school teams... the last 20 minutes a "lowlights" reel. Congrats to Scott on making the finals and an insanely exciting offense to watch when they were playing soccer. Congrats to BG on being state champs. What a solid, well coached team.

A babysitter for "California Parents" that never tell their kids no and discipline them...

My bigger point that I'm trying to make is that to paint a picture that Scott is all evil is way out of line. The final game is a great example, it went both ways in terms of fouls etc... I am not a fan of the needless jabbering with refs and think that is excessive, by all players. I don't see that as dirty play but rather stupidity as it only hurts your team. To act like Scott kids are the only one's doing it then talk about spectating thru rose colored glasses.

 

Then everyone on here talking about how pathetic these kids are for arguing a call while they are ripping a teenage kid. That is what is laughable.

Scott players aren't the only ones doing it, but they push it way farther than most teams. A perception that people see and feel is pushed by the coach and his attitude toward refs. I agree many kids argue calls, but most know where the line stops
