Blaming any of this on the ref, as if he lost control of this game, is absolute garbage. He did nearly everything short of calling every touch a foul - at some point, the players have to control themselves.

 

Tonight, for the last 25 minutes of the match, far too many of them did not.

Everyone is missing the most important point.......

 

We almost have as many people viewing the Boys soccer thread as football....

This statement from the predictions thread speaks volumes:

 

"If officiating is good and they actually play soccer, BG wins, if it's another demolition derby...Scott will push, kick and claw to the top. "

 

It sounds to me like some people who were familiar with the way Scott plays knew they had this in them.

Scott had a great season, I am just afraid that too many people will remember the antics more than their play. This is one of the most talented teams that I have seen play, it is just sad to see the way they chose to finish up their season.

 

I think the announcers made some very interesting comments toward the end of the match... Saying that for Treadway's sake he should hope that schools that are recruiting him does not watch the tape speaks volumes.

 

He's committed to UK.

The 4th was very involved tonight - have never seen a center consult with the 4th on a call before as the guy did tonight (I think most notably on the BG player's 2nd yellow/red).

 

Doesn't mean it's wrong, by any means. I'm a proponent of getting the call right - if you have to talk to the ARs or the 4th, get it right.

Yes, UK's going to remain committed to him.

 

He's still just a kid and he has time to grow out of this. The coaching staff at UK, and the upperclassmen, will help him along that journey.

 

I look forward to cheering him along as a Cat for the nest 4 years.

I watched this game and thought the ref did a pretty good job

Scott showed it's true colors, the hacking and flopping was out of control. The ref did a good job deciphering when it was a foul or a flop.

 

Wow what a good game to see goals, there were some very quality shots. I thought both keepers could have made a few saves, but who am I to say I wasn't on the field.

From my perspective it definitely seemed as if the center ref slightly biased. Push in the backs called for BG and not Scott. Soft tackles were free kicks for BG, sometimes even cards for Scott, and the same tackle was nothing when the teams were reversed. I have not see the playback of the game, but from what I saw, the center wasn't too fair.

I do believe that center ref gave Treadway his red earlier in the season at a tournament Scott played in, but I'm not positive.

From my perspective the ref called a great game

What happened to Scott tonight was that they finally faced an opponent who would give it right back. They couldn't throw BG off their game with the same shenanigans that have worked on so many other teams. Shout out to BG for bringing the fire and intensity to combat this! What's there really to say about the ejections, especially from Mr. UK? Scott was finally able to taste their own medicine and threw a screaming tantrum when they didn't get their way. The bully is squashed. Scott can no longer hurt you anymore.
