The move to six classes was welcomed by us FS fans, mainly because it meant Bowling Green would be in a different class. The deep playoff runs of Warren East, Allen County-Scottsville and Franklin-Simpson in recent years likely would not have happened in the 4 class system because BG would have been in our district. I would like to see a 4 class system again if there were a provision for the more successful programs to move up in class after winning so many regional or state titles. In other words, classification could be based not only on a school's male student population, but also on the relative success of the school.

With that being said, it is funny that a state with so many classes in football and so few schools in each class is still by far the biggest state in the country to have only one class in basketball, softball, baseball, soccer or volleyball.

2 classes for football and basketball, soccer, volleyball etc. all sports the same. Why not??

I happen to be able to speak from experience. I have a ring from both the four and six class systems. They both shine up equally to me.

If we had 25 classes in KY, everyone who won a ring would still be proud of their ring. That has nothing to do with the argument...

This....the 2006 Warren East team played in the 4 class system and was the most talented, deepest East team there has ever been. They went 10-2...with both losses to BG. So the best team in school history gets to experience the awesome pageantry of getting knocked out in the SECOND round? Yippee!

To be fair the system screwed you all even worse those years because of the lack of cross districting in the playoffs. If done the traditional way, East would have been going to Paducah Tilghman in the second round. Probably that same game in the region finals if it were the six class system.

Nothing silly about it at all. I am saying that no matter how many classes you have, the winners of each class will feel good about winning their class. And the fact that each winner will feel good about themselves should not have anything to do with how many classes any state has. Why is that hard to understand?

I grew up in Ohio, but I decided to make my home in Kentucky. I love Kentucky. I just don't like having a watered down high school football playoff system.

There is also the side that says that football is the only high school sport where not every has a chance at the post season. There are schools that do not make the playoffs. In soccer, bball, baseball, golf, tennis, track, cross country, wrestling, volleyball, and softball, every single team or player competes in the district with a chance to go to region. Football is the only sport where you have to qualify or "make" the playoffs.

And no his comment was not "silly" (people actually use that word?), you pointed out that you have a ring from both the 4 and 6 class system and that they both shine the same or whatever you said. His point is, I think, that no matter how many teams we allow to run a championship, those people will still be proud of their rings. The discussion is how many titles is enough for 200 teams? When are we going to say enough of the mentality of everyone gets a trophy?

...within a reasonable scope, as I think six classes are, it's all the same to me. Personally, I like 4 classes PLUS a super class of 16-20 select teams picked based on school size along with the open offer to any school to participate...BUT that's not going to happen and I just tire of all the negative class and playoff talk. Good lord, it's high school football. Let's just all enjoy it. You'll get you competitive games in the late rounds.

Yes, they do NOT have a separate playoff in any sport.
