2006 Cov Cath Football

No, we are just a little program in Park Hills trying to keep up with the juggernaut programs in Ft. Thomas, Lexington, and Boyle Co.

I didn't have a clue it had fallen off this much. BTW what the heck is a juggernaut?

im not sure what he did with exactly but he turned a no name mcnick? highschool into a team that could compete

McNick has always been decent. Some years that's okay in the GCL, some years it gets you killed. I've never had a problem with coach R, but let's understand he came from the GCL. Nobody plays in that league without athletes.

Good, valid points. I would say though, if it wasn't for Highlands in 04', I believe they are state champs.

I think this may be the team to do it, but time will tell.

You may be right, and I respect you post. HHS in 04 was a different animal. You just don't see that much talent in AAA football too often.

BTW what the heck is a juggernaut?

A. An athlete from Lloyd. :D

B. Definition: An overwhelming, advancing force that crushes or seems to crush everything in its path

1. See as an example, LexCath, Highlands, Boyle Co. :walk:

Thanks

By the way and in my opinion.

We prefer to avoid too many abbreviations on here since they aren't always understood.

What does Cov. Cath. have in the Jr. and Soph. classes to be?

Sophomore class to be IMO there's only two players that will compete for significant varsity PT and they are Lee Schotsman (sp?) at O-line and Kyle Restle (sp?) at Linebacker. Junior class to be obviously Brent Buckley who started last year. Andy Schulte is a probable starter at O-line. Kyle Furnish IMO one of the best all around athletes in the school to replace Brett Sutton at DB. There are other juniors who will be competing, but those are just the top three IMO.

Two words will determine CCH's success or failure in 2006: "line play". It doens't have to be "great" but it must be "good". CCH has the skill players to put up points and make plays.

Coach R will, in my opinion, focus his offense on short possession passes. I know Bleser has the arm to go deep and Bovard has the speed to get deep, but unless the o line is stellar, Bleser probably won't get the time to throw it deep. And as I understand it, while he has a great arm, he doesn't have the mobility to scramble for more time to throw it deep. Short passes to Bovard and Sutton, along with screens and draws are what I expect to see of CovCath on O this year. West Coast offense in full strength in Park Hills this fall.

I still believe that it will on depend on how the jr o-line will mature.:D

it was not a mental lapse, they simply got out played and out coached.

Sorry, but letting a receiver get behind you while the QB is scrambling out of pressure is NOT great coaching. It was a great job by Cecil to avoid the sack, and a mental lapse on the CCH DB's to let the receiver get behind them that late in the game.

I understand what you are saying, but I guess the great coaching aspect was the calling of a play that sent a receiver deep in the middle. I believe it was the same play that we had scored earlier hitting Kramer on the swing route out of the back field and down the sidelines. Mueller had to be thinking that they would make sure that didn't happen again. Given the fact Guidugli had been the subject of a lot of attention, Mueller had to also be thinking that sending Guidugli over the middle in a medium depth pattern would bring the safety up. With the one corner concentrating on Kramer, the safety concentrating on Guidugli, calling a play that sent a receiver to the spot where the safety should have been and the corner could not help out because of Kramer, was good coaching on Mueller's part. Just like Coach R calling the half back passes, one of which set up a td and the other of which was a td. In both cases, a Highlands player made a mental lapse and "bit" on the pitch to allow Bovard to get behind him. But it was still good coaching by Coach R.

theguru must know about a few hundred undiscovered athletes roaming the halls in Park Hills.

There's always going to be a time when an "elite" program has a down period (see UK basketball '05-'06). CCH is in that right now, Highlands will be in a "down period" at one point or another. It's inevitable.

Between their State Runner-ups and their State Championships, since the playoff system started in 1959, the Birds have appeared in 45.7% of the title games. They average a State Championship game appearence every 2.2 years with a crown every 2.9 years. Their longest stretch without a title is six seasons. I guess that was their "down period".

Consider the down period whenever you well...just making a point.
