A question to the Scott contingent........which team did you find tougher......Trinity or SO?

 

South Oldham without question. They did like to control the ball just like Trinity and even CCH. But the big differenence was their ability to continue attacking and their defense at least in this game was solid. I haven't seen the final game stats yet but I have to believe they had more legit shots on goal than Scott which meant Scott's keeper at times was busy and without him Scott doesn't get the win last night. But in the end in matches like this it often just takes 1. And we were fortunate to get the opportunity on the free kick where Treadway got a good hit on the ball to finish.

 

It was a great match to watch...

South Oldham was legit. They controlled the majority of the game and had Scott chasing a lot. To the point where the last 10 minutes of the game they were huffing and puffing. Morgan and Haggerty could never keep up with their middle, especially #10 Christian who did work in the center. It wasn't until Christian got into the box that he would be swarmed.

 

Scott only had one legit opportunity in the game in the first half when Schneider beat the defender in the box, shot with his left foot, and barely missed the goal. Sure they had a couple scuffles in the box that could had led to something, but not much. As I mentioned in another post, SO's defense is very well organized, didn't let the boys get loose up top, and defended Treadway well. SO decided to make stupid fouls at the top of the box that led to their demise. Treadway took all 3, burying his third one. Still not sure what happened. Had to have some serious movement on the ball because the keeper went right then had to adjust to go left and not enough of a hand on it. After Treadway shanked his first 2 I was shocked Morgan didn't step in. He can really whip a ball in and the wind would have only aided his shot.

 

To set the record straight on Treadway this, Treadway that... CJ won that game. He came up big! SO had 3-4 LEGIT opportunities that CJ made GREAT saves on. That game could have been 3 or 4 to 1... easy.

 

In the end, SO couldn't capitalize on their opportunities and possession doesn't win games.

 

This was about the same summary for the Dunbar/BG game... Dunbar being the South Oldham of the game. Out possessed, missed opportunities, and overall the better team. Should be an interesting match up. BG's defense is goooooood. Treadway and Schneider are going to have a tough time breaking them down. BG plays a similar style like Scott so might play like a tennis match.

Another note... this game was a lot more enjoyable to watch because both sides of parents weren't completely annoying/weren't constantly complaining. Officiating was alright... missed calls on both sides, but nothing that would have impacted the game. Refs set the tone quick not allowing a lot of contact, but they let a little more go as the game progressed.

Trinity must have really took their lose to Scott to heart. Was told by a buddy that Trinity had their own student section there cheering against Scott/for South Oldham.

Wow I didn't know that. Well if they didn't have plans for Saturday night they do now. I think they should all come down the more the better. I love the student sections and wish them well.

Is Treadway having one of the best careers ever.

I am not sure that you can say he has had one of the best careers ever... it has been filled with a fair share of ups and downs.

 

I do think that you must give him all the credit in the world for stepping up at the right time, he seems to have a knack for doing this on a big stage!!! What he has done the past 2 weeks has to be one of the best individual performances in a State Tournament, I would guess that 8 goals (and counting) could be the most in a single season, it could also rank right up there for the most in a career.

 

Kudos to him for what he has done... I hope that tomorrow night he is able to add to what has already been a great performance this season... a win would also be a nice way to cap off his career at Scott.
