2. I did not see it. I was not as close to the action as the CCH fans. Also, the goalie was wearing gloves, which would make it harder to see what was happening. If you recall earlier in the game, his shoe was untied and a defender quicklie helped him with that because of the gloves. Another reason why it was difficult for people to see.

 

3. If it happened as you say it happened, then that is bad, and not something at all to be proud of.

 

4. You have zero idea if/how the student has had discussions with the coach and or administration on his behavior.

 

4. If it was such an awful thing in the game of soccer, and if it was out of control to the point of affecting the outcome of the game, then why didn't the ref call it? Why wasn't the player carded? 2 refs standing by. We all know that the high school refs do not hold back.

 

5. Perhaps it is time to let it go. Kids do stupid all the time. Even Catholic kids who attend a Catholic schools do stupid. If you think for one second that this individual does not feel badly for his choices, then you are wrong.

 

7. On the hand stepped on by a defender: My guess is that happened during the play and was not intentional. I hope the youngster is alright. I know a St Henry defender who was clipped by a CCH striker, such that he went up and came down hard on his neck and head. A foul was called. Nothing more. And that's all that should have happened, as it was 2 players feverishly going after the ball. It happens. Just as one of the strong senior players from CCH missed the game from an ankle sprain that likely happened in the previous game. It happens. It's soccer.

 

8. If the goalie made an inappropriate comment to the CCH striker about his hand, shame on him. But it seems that he has apologized. How do we really know what was said? Have you seen the trash talking and jawing that goes on between players during the game of soccer? Shall we put microphones on the players so that we can record everything they say in the heat of competition, then play it back here so we can all analyze it?

 

9. This is BGP. We like to talk about stuff. We all think our team can do no wrong. When we lose, we are looking for someone or something to blame. But I think it is time to stop rubbing salt in the wound and stop trash talking this student. The damage is already done.

I'm not a technical guy, but the good news is that if you post something that you don't like or want others to see.......just delete it and it goes away forever and you never have to worry about it again........

Wow. I've been reading all these post the last couple days and it looks like a bunch teenage girls arguing back and forth. The kid did something stupid which every kid does and no i don't condone it. Just like i don't have video or audio proof but I'm sure that one of the perfect CC student body said something nasty and uncalled for during that long soccer game. If you think not you're crazy. These are kids and they do this stuff. I'm sure 99% of them didn't but there is always that one idiot that does. Just as I'm sure there was a SH student that did the same. As an athlete yes your told to be better than that but they are the same kids that are taunting so when they respond it's no surprise. I bet there is not one person on this site that hasn't done something stupid in their teenage life so get over yourselves and move on. I'm sure his coach has addressed the issue with him and it won't happen again.To quote from the movie Frozen which I'm stuck with watching over and over having younger girls.

Yep, you said it, the denials are a joke... How could any God Catholic person even consider that the well-mannered, polite, always reserved, angelic young gentlemen from Covington Catholic

would be in any way loud, obnoxious, vulgar, disrespectful, or taunting. Slap on the wrist for everyone who dared speak ill of these upstanding pillars of the school community.

 

My post that you pasted had nothing to do with the "young gentlemen from Covington Catholic", it was in regard to some on here that have questioned rather or not the SH players taunted and the SH keeper flipped off the cch student section. Maybe go back and reread it.

 

Another point, and I've mentioned this here previously, players should be disciplined and focused to keep their complete attention to the task at hand between the lines. I'm been to a number of cch basketball games, their student turns out in more numbers and are louder at these indoor sporting events. And when they play at a venue such as NKU Bank of KY Cnt, the cch students assemble directly behind one of the basketball goals, approximately just 10 feet beyond the baseline. During the opponent's free throw shooting they heckle him like no other, no one seems to have a problem with. I have never seen an opponent's bb player flip off the cch student section during any bb game.

If what some have indicated here that it is ok for players to respond directly to student sections during a game, then envision any bb player for any team flipping off any school's student section during a game. If you're ok with that you have a different perspective of sports then I hope the overwhelming majority does.

I hear everyone LOUD AND CLEAR. Listen I love the student sections at all sporting events as long as there is no offensive language or other in appropriate gestures. I don't care HOW LOUD THEY GET to me it shows school spirit and pride. I have seen several student sections this year including Covington Catholic. And for the most part they have cheered for their teams and provided a little good humor heckling of the home team. Nothing wrong with that.
