You weren't there. You have no dog in the fight. Stop believing everything you hear. There are two sides to every story. You seem to be condoning the obnoxious behavior from some of the colonels, while at the same time you are outraged at the supposed gesture from the St. Henry goalie.

Too bad the AR didn't notify the ref about the obscenities coming from the Cov Cath section of the stands, and issue a card to the coach to calm them down, which is, I'm sure you know, perfectly within the refs remit. Let's hope someone in authority speaks to the "crazies" before their next big outing.

You are correct, there are two sides to every story, the truth is usually somewhere in the middle.

I do not think we need to call what the goalie did a "supposed gesture", it happened twice. Maybe the "crazies" were obnoxious, I believe this is subjective. I can tell you that I did not hear any language that was vulgar... rude maybe, obnoxious... whose to say. I was right behind them when all this happened and did not hear anything that a ref would stop or try to subdue.

I think most are forgetting that these types of antics go on quite often, and as happened the other night, the players on the field will also engage in it themselves. How would people be reacting if the 100+ crazies made the same "supposed gesture" to the player?

I was at the game. I saw players from SH trying to get the SH fans to be more vocal...CHEERING for them. In no way did they try to get them to taunt or do anything of that sort. Everyone sitting down in the lower bleachers was not from Cov Cath. You may not know it, but there is a PRIEST sitting with the SH student section and cheering along. At no point did I see a SH player taunting the Cov Cath fans.

There is no argument that heckling a high school student/athlete is anything but unacceptable. I am not sure how you can be offended by the actions of one and not the other. While something may not be uncommon, it also does not make it correct. Just as I said that his reaction to their taunts was not correct, I don't excuse the taunting either whether it be from students or parents.

I should have been more clear, I was talking about some SH players taunting the "crazies".

Now you are saying the St Henry boys taunted the fans? Hold on just a minute, I am not going to sit here and let you make that statement. The instances that occurred were players firing up the St. Henry student section or responding to a big moment in the game. Never did I see any taunting of the Cov Cath fans by a Crusader. I have sat here and taken the St. Henry bashing for as long as I can. There is so much more that needs to be said but I'm going to stop now before I get myself in trouble.....

No, go ahead... a few more rants and we can all make the triple digit replies to this topic...

Looks like we are going to have to agree to disagree on this one. I certainly did not see what you allege to have seen at the game and I was watching every bit of the game. I truly doubt that this happened the way that you are saying it unfolded and the excuse making for fans taunting players baffles me.

Discussion of the crazies riding an opponent, said opponent reacting, etc. is all entertaining; however, when I read a Cov. Cath soccer thread I have expectations that it will contain certain elements. Things like the aforementioned what is the "should have been" score question. But also things like did Cov. Cath play their JV team, who dominated possession, and the legitimacy of the goals scored against the Colonels? Can we at least have someone please address the points for what was the biggest game of the year and that are core to every discussion of a Cov. Cath. soccer game? :jump:

Also I think we should start the who is #1 preseason in NKY thread. Anyone have any thoughts as to who should start out the year #1. I certainly do. :)

So am I to believe you who says he didn't do anything or the numerous other witnesses who said they did see him

flip off the crowd not once but twice? Hmmm

The big problem I have is more of people condoning it than the action itself. Anyone saying its in the past let it go are the same ones

condoning it.

Lets wait till this year is over.... still games to be played.

if you must.. Cov Cath #1 next yr... just like this year. Predictions really don't matter... just the reality baby. Reality is game Tue 7p St. H. come on up and stay dry....

We should have him drawn and quartered. That'll end this discussion!!

Didn't someone already say the goalie texted their son and apologized.

Admitted, ten lashes for him. At least he had enough class to recognize and apologize. Moving on..

Certainly mean't no offense to St. Henry and would love to see them get past the next round, which will be tough, and enjoy a good run. Just having a little fun with our resident Colonel faithful.

Actually teaching him how to handle himself

woth respect would be a good start.

I understand you think its

perfectly fine and good sportsmanship

and all but sometimes actually holding people accountable for

thwir actions goes a long way rather than allow them to do whatever they want.

Also when Pura said there is no need to ride this kid...well I disagree, maybe riding hiim is the only way to let him know that what he did and how he behaved is unacceptable behavior, appreantly some on here unfortunately think that type of behavior is just fine and that is sad.

Hellbird… it’s never ok for adults to name call HS kids on a public forum. It’s inexcusable. The offending comment was quickly (and appropriately) erased by the mods.

Calling a kid names only serves to make YOU look like a (sore) loser... and that my friend is very sad.

Moderator, I think it's time to tie a bow on this... Please!

Yes they did say he texted the kid he told he hoped his hand was broke. That's a nice gesture and I even didn't even bring that up, I was speaking of his other misconduct flipping off the fans not once but twice.

So so when did he apologize to

the fans in the stands? I understand you don't get it, I was simply stating what I would do if I were his coach and that is pull him out

of the game and teach him he can't act that way, although it is apparently condoned behavior by you and some others, the rest of the people would rather see better behavior taught.
