1) Dad got mad last year and forced him to transfer, finally decided on Southwestern.

2) Dad was arrested a few weeks ago for some pretty heinous crimes and is being investigated for some even worse.

3) Son had to relocate from home since dad was in jail and transferred back to Somerset where he never wanted to leave in the first place.

4) 3 or 4 weeks later KHSAA ruled him eligible to play with 3 weeks (2games) left in the season

 

*I don't know if dad is guilty or not as he has just been charged at this point.

 

So Dad got mad at the football Coaches at Somerset and moved him to PSW (but that isn't a move based on athletics) then Dad gets arrested and kid moves back to Somerset with his old team mates (but this move isn't based on athletics either?) There have been kids who have been deemed ineligible for entire years for these types of moves, yet this kid, gets cleared to play twice in a 2 month span. At least the KHSAA is consistent.

Curious how a kid can play for 2 teams in same season.

 

You watch the KHSAA for a few years it gets funnier and funnier. One year they allowed two schools to merge in athletics (Mercer Co.) in June.

 

Before you know it, KHSAA will allow player unions. Just Watch.

Question, if Somerset is the fourth seed doesn't that put them most likely with Prestonsburg in the first round?

Hate to hear stories like this, I hope the kid is alright and has a good head on his shoulders to overcome the personal family issues. With that said, his dad sounds like a real tool.

Im happy the kid is back in a situation that makes him happy. Somerset is a good community and Im sure he will do well there. Dealing with a parent, that apparently is an idiot, should not count against the kid. The focus should be on the well being of the kid because he has seen and been thru a lot. Seeing your parent go to jail has to be traumatic

No, he moved to SW last year or at the end of last year and was cleared to play as Somerset didn't object or try to block it in any way. Then a few weeks ago he moved back to go to school with the kids he's went to school with for 4 years, I don't think playing football for a winless team was the driving factor for his transfer back.

This week's Somerset game is actually my upset special of the week. I am thinking they will beat Middlesboro.

 

As to the thread's question, if Somerset faces Prestonsburg they are done. If they beat Middlesboro, then Middlesboro finishes last in the district. I believe that puts Somerset versus Shelby Valley and that is no easy ticket. In fact, that is a pretty tough district vs. district match up with both those districts having quality teams. If Somerset somehow made it to the title game, they will have earned it. This week's game versus Middlesboro sets the stage.

Somerset should be 2-0 in district play but are 0-2. Team just seems snake bit.

 

Was thinking the same thing. As bad as the record is, the two district losses are by three points combined. (Danville 21-19; LCA 22-21). It would be odd to see the Jumpers make a run, but winning the region doesn't seem like it would be a complete shock.

In most cases it's not the kids fault, it's the coaches and parent have a disagreement and the kid is forced to move. In most cases the kid would rather stay with his friends he's grew up around.

Agreed...Somerset needs to beat Middlesboro (get a #3 seed) and avoid P'Burg as long as possible!
