October 15, 201412 yr NY Times Just Blasted Out of Existence Biggest Myth About George W. Bush & Iraq War From 2004 to 2011, American and American-trained Iraqi troops repeatedly encountered, and on at least six occasions were wounded by, chemical weapons remaining from years earlier in Saddam Hussein’s rule. In all, American troops secretly reported finding roughly 5,000 chemical warheads, shells or aviation bombs, according to interviews with dozens of participants, Iraqi and American officials, and heavily redacted intelligence documents obtained under the Freedom of Information Act.... ...Retired Army major Jarrod Lampier, who was there when the U.S. military found 2,400 nerve agent rockets in 2006 — the largest chemical weapons discovery of the war – said of the finding’s import, “‘Nothing of significance’ is what I was ordered to say.” I'm glad that it was the NY Times (which has never been known to been known as a Conservative Newspaper) maybe the naysayers will pause and consider the source before blowing off this report.
October 15, 201412 yr Author It was blasted before this, in the fact that they were moved to Syria. These weren't moved to Syria, they were found hidden in Iraq.
October 15, 201412 yr These weren't moved to Syria, they were found hidden in Iraq. A lot were, but a lot more were moved. I know a lot don't buy it and that is ok.
October 15, 201412 yr Author I think a lot still don't think there were any at all, either moved or found in Iraq.
October 15, 201412 yr I always have believed a lot were moved to Syria early on. Many of Hussein's delivery mechanisms were mobile to start with. The fact that there is evidence that nerve agents were found and the information was surpressed doesn't surprise me either. There has been disinformation from a lot of the global community from day one because the US invasion went against what some "important" European interests wanted to happen. It is saddening that our own interests were compromised because this disinformation was used to foster the dislike for our own leader and used for political gain. But, amazingly, we still survive.
October 15, 201412 yr Oh this can't be. Remember? Bush Lied Soldiers Died, isn't that what we heard on here, saw on bumper stickers, heard on CNN, ABC, CBS, MSNBC...
October 15, 201412 yr I really don't expect any of the Bush bashers to acknowledge this report. Takes away one of their favorite attacks.
October 15, 201412 yr But didn't the Bush/Republicans say, in a form of an apology or excuse regarding the invasion of Iraq, that "our intelligence was faulty?" Now, is it coming out that there indeed were weapons of mass destruction? Why would Bush et al. apologize if they knew all along thst there were WMD? What gives? Also, is it being said that as WMD were discovered post-Bush, officials were ordered not to acknowledged their existence-----presumably for political gain? What is going on here? People are playing footloose and fancy free with other peoples' lives.
October 15, 201412 yr Did you guys read the actual NYT article or just the summary in the link? Summary left out some key points.
October 15, 201412 yr Author Did you guys read the actual NYT article or just the summary in the link? Summary left out some key points. Post them!
October 15, 201412 yr Post them! I was driving so I had to be brief. The article clearly states that the WMDs found were inactive and from the 70s, 80s, and up to about 1990. So these were not active WMDs. The UN ordered the Iraqis to dispose of their WMDs which they did. These corroded WMDs mentioned in the article were not the WMDs that were used as justification for the war. They were inactive and corroding.
October 16, 201412 yr Googled "WMD" just to see what came up. First link explains the false narrative. No, There's Still No Evidence There Was an Active WMD Program in Iraq | Mother Jones
