The wizard is all some and mirrors.

Hermes I know is at BW.

Braden Hermes came to Beechwood as a Freshman. From what I am told he lives in Rabbit Hash and was originally slated to attend Conner, but his street was moved to the Cooper district. I know he was a solid contributer to the 7th and 8th grade undefeated teams in the BCPWFL...which were all Conner kids. His parents petitioned the School board during his 7th grade year about the possibility of going to Conner and were denied.

Going to Beechwood? Fink has been a Beechwood for a few years. Evrett's have been at Beechwood a long time. Way before high school. Who else is from Conner, or anywhere in Boone County?

Harms, Soward, Hermes to name a few. Harms no longer plays football. Im sure there are others. I have been told that the smaller size in numbers as well as the academic atmosphere is a selling point to some. Having a quality sports program is secondary. If you have the ability to pay tuition...so be it. Do whats best for the kid and family. Just my opinion.

Picking a school for sports over education is the real sad part. I call that awful parenting!!

Many top ranked schools academically also have excellent athletic programs. Are those parents awful?

Braden Burch made the move this year as a Freshman to BW from Conner as well.

So is Conner. At Conner a student can earn up to 62 hours of college credit through AP and dual enrollment classes before they graduate. All of this without taking a single class outside of school hours. Because of the large enrollment/faculty, Conner has more AP classes to offer as well. The academic argument doesn't hold up.

The academic argument does hold up. It is not a knock on Conner or Cooper or any other school that has AP classes and dual enrollment etc. As they all do, but Beechwood is one of the top academic schools in the state

Agree! Doing what is best for your family and your child overrides all else. If you believe your son or daughter will grow, mature and thrive academically more at a different school that is what you should do. You just hope you get it right.

You are correct, I forgot to mention him....good kid. As they all are

Lots of threads about nky freshman, what's your Guys thought from Colton Catlett from WV? Talented freshman that has started last 3 games.

Colton is a solid player. The freshman class has some good kids coming up. Colton Catlett, Mason Smith, Noah Hammond, Hunter Michael just to name a few. Should be fun to watch over the next couple years.

As is Conner. What can a kid get at Beechwood they can't get at Conner?

I do not think anyone is knocking Conner for academics. I believe some kids thrive better in a smaller setting with out the "hustle and bustle" of a large County school system. Smaller numbers in classes, more individualized learning (if needed). Sometimes a kid can be "Lost" in the bigger systems. Less distractions. Depends on the Kid and family in my opinion....

There is a difference. Talk to any of the kids from the Conner area that you know who have or are attending Beechwood.
