Kaepernick fined $10K for wearing BEATS

Kaepernick hit with $10K fine for wearing Beats by Dre headphones

Colin Kaepernick did a commercial for Beats by Dre -- headphone maker extraodinaire -- where he was shown blocking out the sound of what looks like screaming Seahawks fans.

Well, the San Francisco 49ers quarterback has been hit with a penalty for wearing those headphones. Kaepernick said on Thursday that he was fined $10K by NFL for wearing the Beats by Dre product. But why?

Simple, the NFL made a deal with Bose to be the official headphones of the league. And as a result, the league passed a mandate that NFL players can only be seen wearing Bose headphones when there's a potential of being seen by cameras or fans. Kaepernick, of course, didn't take it seriously or didn't hear about it.

He went strolling into Levi's Stadium last Sunday wearing his headphones and someone must have seen him. Hence, the fine. Let that be a lesson, Colin? A silly lesson, but a lesson nonetheless.

So will a player be fined for drinking a Coke if Pepsi is the official drink of the NFL? Or driving a Ford truck if GMC is the official NFL truck.

Are they allowed to watch NBA and MLB games?

Beats will probably pay the fine.

Because these are the things that the NFL should be worrying about right now...

Why didn't they just make him turn them inside out?

What is really interesting is what I've seen in another article on this topic - that the $10,000 is more than the fines of $8,200 to Denver TE Julius Thomas and Browns LB Christian Kirksey for dirty hits. Does not make sense.

Why didn't they just make him turn them inside out?

Put tape over them lol

The NFL sucks. I really would never watch a game outside of my favorite teams if not for Fantasy Football. And I mean that literally.

Clearly a contract violation. Read what you sign. No issue with the fine.

Somebody said it another thread, and I agree that without Fantasy Sports, NFL viewership would take a significant hit.

But what if Kaep had his contract with Dr Dre BEFORE the NFL had its contract with Bose (which I think is the case)? So Kaep's contract is just null and void?

Like others have said on here, I have had it with the NFL. The NFL is the biggest bully on the block. The way it treats anyone associated with it (players, fans, sponsors, networks, etc) is just wrong IMO.

On the field or in the locker room? Heck yes, as they should!

......

Anyone that has ever been to the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament, try walking onto the press row / courtside area with ANY drink not in a coke cup and tell me what happens. You'll think TSA is calm and reasonable after the experience.
