Somerset basketball

Featured Replies

Is Somerset looking to replace their boy's basketball coach?

I can't imagine why. It would be a mistake to let Shawn Thacker go.

I have also heard that rumor. Unfortunately with how many 20+ win seasons, three Class "A" State Runners-Up, six straight Class "A" State appearances..why would you want to let him go?

I suspect that Thacker, if he were let go, would have little problem finding another coaching job.

He might even be able to avoid moving! :sssh:

I would like to see Somerset replace Shawn Thacker with a better coach or a better person. Just because they were upset in the District doesn't mean you fire the coach.

Are these people serious? How could Somerset get a better coach than they already have in Coach Thacker? I think people in Jumperland had better worrry about a big school offering him a position and not be too concerned with the early district loss. I can not believe there is any truth to these rumors.

Thacker is a great coach and great guy!! You better keep him or you will regret it!!

Coach Thacker is in a situation like every other coach in KY. There will always be people around the program that will stab you in the back, and try to go underground to have you removed. Somerset has some disgrunteled fans, and they are digging up his district record, and questioning his playing style. I have heard the AD was going to have a talk with him about his style of play, (having them play more up tempo) at the end of this season.

However, Somerset will not find a harder worker, or a better person than Coach Thacker. And with next years Junior class they will contend for the All A and 12th Region for at least the next two years.

This is probably the most redickulous thread I have ever seen here on preps. I cannot imagine that Somerset can bring in someone better than Coach Thacker. If there is any truth to this....same on you Somerset!!

I think he is a great coach. But for various reasons (which I shan't discuss on here), I would have a hard time cheering for any team where he is the coach. However, I would never impune his ability as a coach.

Shawn Thacker is a huge asset to Somerset and doesn't have to do another thing to prove himself there.

An AD or administrator should never suggest a different style of play, IMO that is not their area of concern.

So do you want him gone or not? You say two completly different things.......there is no reason to let Thacker go especially with the talent he has coming back for the next few years.

I hate to speak for Jaguartothebone, but I think what he was trying to say was that replacing Thacker with a better coach or person isn't possible

It took me a minute to register exactly what he was saying, but that appears to be it! :thumb:
