Some Ebola experts worry virus may spread more easily than assumed - LA Times

"At this point there is zero risk of transmission on the flight," Dr. Thomas Frieden, director of the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, said after a Liberian man who flew through airports in Brussels and Washington was diagnosed with the disease last week in Dallas.

...

Yet some scientists who have long studied Ebola say such assurances are premature — and they are concerned about what is not known about the strain now on the loose. It is an Ebola outbreak like none seen before, jumping from the bush to urban areas, giving the virus more opportunities to evolve as it passes through multiple human hosts.

How many people are going to die from the flu this year?

Ebola is scary and horrible, but Captain Trips it ain't. Your fearmongering on this is wearing thin.

I would say none since everyone gets a flu shot.

And you know it isnt how?

So far what has been told to us by the Government and CDC hasnt always added up.

There's nothing I hate more than engaging in this stuff but please enlighten me.

The first two aid workers that were diagnosed and treated here in the US in Atlanta have both recovered and to this point there have been no further contractions associated with those cases.

What am I missing?

An awful lot of unsubstantiated speculation there that contradicts everything we've known about the spread of the disease to this point.

Who exactly is the "we" you are speaking of ?? The government? The CDC? Scientist? All seem confused and unsure about transmission now..

"We" meaning everyone who's ever read anything about Ebola.

Doctors seem to think a certain way about how it's spread as well.

Could new information come to light? Of course. But this fearmongering based on speculation is complete insanity. Everyone needs to calm the heck down. mountainref's declaration that it "MUST BE AIRBORNE NOW" is based not in reality, but in fear.

WAY more people than will die from Ebola, that's a fact. Where are your over the top posts about the flu?

And what about The Plague, Hantavirus, and other virulent diseases that have dozens of reported cases every year?? With how small the world has become, it's no surprise that a case of Ebola finally appeared in the US.
