I stand by my statement that CovCath has no dominant inside player. Perhaps we just have a different view about what a dominant inside player is. A dominant inside player is a guy who can get the ball on the block and score with regularity on anyone. Noll and Schult are not those types of players. CovCath is a great T-E-A-M!

Wow i expected covcath to win but not by this sort of margin...and noll had 30? wow im very impressed. After seeing them against holmes in the district finals i thought they could win it all with no problem but i didnt see them getting by highlands this easily...covcath is on a roll

Good job Colonels. I was expecting a close game also. I didn't envision a final score like this. But as usual, CovCath came out on fire in the second half.

Congrats to CCH on the victory!! Still like them to win it all and make a run at Rupp. Hats off to Danny Noll who's hung in there and his time has obviously come!! Also to Bully Schult for helping, along with Danny, Sam and Mike; give them an inside game to compliment their outstanding guards!! Good luck tomorrow!!

No dominant inside prescence, but Dnoll scored 30? Even if he is a 3 point shooter, 15 points came from inside and he does play the 4 position. Also Schult scored 10 so thats 40 points from the 2 big men.

 

Both D Noll and Schult are more of finesse big men. Granted they do play the 4 or 5 spots, they are not doing their point scoring by overpowering the defender. It is their movement and shot range in D Noll's case that allow them to score.

And Kareem wasn't as physical as Shaq, but still managed to score 30 some thousand points in the NBA?? Somebody banged with Highlands' big boys tonight!! Point is the inside threat, which was lacking earlier in the year; compliments the outside threat, to make them a much more dangerous team!! :thumb:

I don't know how the Colonels are doing it but they improve by leaps and bounds with every game. I never thought this game would blow open like this, but it was amazing to see CovCath's defense get all over the Birds when they were kind of viewed going in to be the tougher defensive team. At times it looked like Highlands didn't know what hit them. They might've underestimated just how tough The Colonels could be. I think I even did a little and they sure showed who was boss tonight. What a fantastic team they have developled into, and what an amazing offensive show they put on with Danny Noll leading the pack with an unbelievable outstanding performance. What a poised, smart ballplayer that guy is! I felt like I was watching a team effort that was one for the record books. New Cath wasn't too shabby either, but I think Cov Cath's depth and awesome play will be all over the Breds as well. They've proven that they can now consistenly play this well and I can't imagine them not being at Rupp next week. Just a thought, both Owensboro Cath and Pendelton Co are out of it. Not saying that makes everything a cake walk, but things are looking better with the possibility of the Colonels making it at least to Saturday morning at Rupp. Maybe further. They sure are on fire! Anything can happen. :thumb:

Lets not get crazy here.... I will agree that CCH is our best chance of winning a couple games at Rupp. However, I don't see them winning the title as you really need a strong inside presence to compliment good guard play and although Noll was unconscious last night... I don't see them competing at the post.

 

Congrats to CCH as they beat the Birds hands down. I liked CSHS's comment above... basically CCH has more offensive weapons and last night the Birds only had 1... maybe 2. I thought Vories really showed the Region what kind of a player he was in the 2nd period coming off of the 5 turnover 1st period. He is amazing.... and Tanner Johnson had a nice first half. They showed a lot of poise to take the 4 pt halftime lead after being buried in the 1st 3 minutes of the game.

 

Somebody needs to throw a bucket of water in Noll's face as he had the type of game you lie in bed and dream about. He was en fuego...:flame: I couldnt believe it. How someone couldnt find him after he nailed 2 or even 3 in a row was beyond me. CCH has excellent shooters and that was their advantage. I have to believe CCH had 8 3pt's for the game and HHS maybe had 1. That is huge.

 

I also think CCH is the best passing team I have seen in a very long time. They seem to have a knack for where the open guy is always whether it is off of a tipped rebound or Jacobs firing a no -look pass to an open guy under the bucket. Too many times HHS players were caught watching the ball and Noll and Shulte had easy layups off nice passes.

 

The Birds had a great year with some big wins and they all should be commended for a great effort as they played very hard until the final horn even though they were clearly out of it.

 

It was very frustrating watching Vories try to do it all in the 2nd half offensively while other fired up ridiculous 30 footers or off balance runners in the lane. Like Kenny Shields said, its a game of Spurts and you try to minimize your opponents and HHS couldnt do that the first 3 minutes starting the 2nd half. Good luck tonight as I see a 15 pt victory for the Colonels.
