St. Louis, MO

Featured Replies

Ok, I got some good ideas regarding Kansas City, MO last week. We have a day to kill in either St. Louis or Kansas City two weeks from now... Anyone have ideas on what to do in St. Louis, besides the Arch?

Do you have kids? Ages?

The Hill district is nice. Old Italian neighborhood with a bunch of little restaurants.

St Louis has their own style of pizza so you might do the "when in Rome" thing. Interesting pizza.

I think you can take a tour of the Cardinals stadium.

Gambling boats.

Washington U's campus is nice to walk around.

Science Center, great zoo, art museum, Jewel Box (like Krohn in Cincinnati), Missouri History Museum all in Forest Park area. If you're going to Arch, also spend 45 minutes at the museum below. Anheuser-Busch still offers tours at its main brewery off I-55 a few miles south of downtown. Grant's Farm is interesting. Cahokia Mounds about 20 miles east of St. Louis is site of one of largest Indian settlements ever in North America. And don't overlook the transportation museum in Kirkwood, Mo. Lots of old trains there that kids can climb on.

I absolutely can not overstate how cool the St. Louis City Museum is. Well worth the price of admission.

Great recommendations, TTP, especially the bolded! :thumb:

Is that the one underneath the Arch? If so it is pretty cool. If not I'd like to check it out.

Personally I love St. Louis, one of my favorite cities.

They have a great zoo. And the best part is admission is free. You do have to pay about $8 to park.

I remember going to the St Louis "Science Museum" when I was in first grade. Also went parasailing on lake of the Ozarks. Great city.

Park at forest park for free

Kids?

Park at forest park for free

I've done that before, but it's not always possible to find a spot to park on the street.

If admission is free, go ahead and pay to park. Why skimp on already good deal?

I was just talking with someone yesterday that highly recommended Grant's Farm. It's where the Clydesdales are raised and supposed to be very cool.
