Maybe FTJFL teams should avoid scheduling any teams from other leagues if they are just going to complain about only having limited players. Did they not know the white and red teams wouldn't be playing with them when they agreed to the game?

 

Yes we knew what we were getting into. We absorbed Covington Catholic's schedule when they opted out and went to the GCL. The 3 FTJFL teams are playing Covington Catholic's schedule split up between the 3 of them. The game on Sat is a different story and a lot closer battle when all 8th graders are combined as one team. Congrats to Campbell County on the dominating win.

Probably also worth mentioning that Cov Cath is 8-0 all time vs Campbell Co, and other than the first matchup in 1987, few of the other contests, if any, have been close. Moreover, Cov Cath won the scrimmage this year handily. I understand that the scrimmage score could be misleading and I understand that past performance does not guaranty the future, however, I think it's quite pre-mature to suggest Campbell Co will replace Cov Cath in the Highlands rivalry pecking order any time soon.

Why has a thread not started by a CCHS fan become a bash CCHS thread? CCHS and HHS aren't even in the same class so a true rivalry is impossible. Cov Cath fans need to exam why their program with unlimited boundries and financial possibilities hasn't had the same success as their Catholic brethren in Cincinnati and Louisville and leave the Camels out of it.

Cov Cath fans didn't start the thread. Adding facts to a ridiculous argument.

I will say that there used to be a Campbell Co./Highlands rivalry but that was long ago when they were in the same district.

 

Just had a get together of CC grads at my house a couple weeks ago. More than one time during the evening, someone found out I was a Cake Eater and felt the need to tell me that back in 1985, CC beat Highlands at Highlands. One even told me that it was the last time any team had beat HHS at home. Had to let him down and tell him that part was not true. Yes, this is what they hang their hat on. :lol: Let me know when CC and HHS are back in the same district; then we'll talk.

No, the more appropriate examination for Cov Cath centers around what it can do/will do to shorten the considerable gap between them and Highlands. Comparing themselves to teams in different classes and different states is silly. But, for kicks, how would you define success - number of state titles? If so, Cov Cath fits right in the middle, Louisville Trinity, Louisville St X and Moeller ahead of them and Cincinnati schools Elder, St X and LaSalle behind.

Never. The rivalry will always be defined by which team in your district is the most able to give you a game year in and year out. CovCath didn't live up to that this past Friday, but I'm sure they'll wind up being the most competitive when all is said and done, as usual. Campbell County being a 6A team would put them into the local rival category, nothing more. Same with NewCath if the opportunity ever presents itself again.

Comparing an Ohio Division I state championship to a Kentucky state championship is like comparing apples to oranges. Each class in Kentucky has approximately 30-35 teams. Each division in Ohio has well over 100. No comparison.

Well aware of the difference between OH and KY. Read the entire post. Comparing Cov Cath to OH programs is silly. Agreed on apples and oranges. I would never try to disparage almighty OH - relax, your superiority is safe. I was simply responding to another post that suggested Cov Cath should be more concerned with Louisville catholic schools and GCL schools. I think such comparisons are irrelevant, but, in terms of state championships, Cov Cath is doing just fine. All of those titles were under the 4 class system, so there were a few more than 35 teams per class.

One further point of clarification - the state title comparison was offered as a way of defining relative success - responding to another poster (quoted in my original response), since he suggested that Cov Cath should be concerned with matching the success of the Louisville and Cincinnati catholic schools. Since the Louisville schools are in a different class and the GCL schools are in a different state - not to mention 50-100 percent larger, not sure what other way to define comparative success.. With all of this said, as I mentioned originally, Cov Cath should be more concerned with how to catch up with Highlands. But, I digress and apologize to everyone else for hijacking this thread with a stupid argument.
