Will the Bengals be a favorite at New England?

Featured Replies

I am thinking about a pick.

Thoughts everyone, will the Bengals be a favorite at NE?

It will hinge upon how the Pats look Sunday. I could see the Bengals giving a couple if the Pats still look lackluster.

I'm going with Pats -2.5 barring an injury this weekend.

Don't you think everyone would jump Cincy then?

Since the betting public sets the line I expect by the end NE will be a small favorite. Unless they look bad this weekend.

I don't necessarily. I could see it being viewed as a "Brady last stand" type moment. The Bengals have performed well against the Pats, so that will linger in many people's minds. The NFL is so week-to-week and Vegas isn't big on swinging many to road favorites against one of the traditional powers.

Not if NE plays well this week. I'm guessing it starts around that number and the public bets it to 3.5 and it stay around there. This week will mean a lot in terms of the public's perception of NE.

Pats are going to a historically tough place to play. Even if they lose, they would still be favorites. Long-term trends, public perception, and home field advantage all would point to that. The ONLY thing that could cause the Bengals to be a favorite would be an injury to Brady--that's the only thing that would move the line that much. There should be an early line out there somewhere. Right now, I'd say NE -3.

I could see it at NE -1 but nothing less.

Based on how both have played so far, I think so. Even though New England is a tough place to win at, I think a Bengals win solidifies them as a stronger contender. On the other side of it, a loss likely has many thinking it's the same Bengals from past seasons.

First line I've seen and New England is favored by 2.5

Opened at NE -3, has dropped to -2 or -2.5, depending on the service.

I am surprised they put a line out before the NE game tonight. I mean, what if Brady were to get hurt.

They would pull it immediately, but if you were holding a ticket, you'd be all set. Couple of weeks ago Clemson was +19.5, Winston got suspended, and it dropped to +10. If you got in early on Clemson, you got quite a bargain.
