He took four shots. No, it wasn't an accident.

He did? I watched the video without sound. Did the other 3 miss?

He sucked with his weapon

Must have.

So I watched it again with sound. That dude needs to be prosecuted and given an eye exam.

I can't even imagine the cussing I would have been giving that cop after he shot me... Man.

That is absolutely ridiculous. There is no excuse for this.

The victim in this case is the driver, and I would suspect the State of South Carolina will be paying him a lot of money.

The seatbelt law is the result of a strong insurance company PAC. IMO, it is should never be sufficient reason to pull a driver over.

Absolutely should have been fired. The driver has a nice payout coming to him.

20 years in prison would be excessive to me, but given everything going on right now, he's going to be made an example of. At least in this case it looks pretty cut and dry that he didn't handle himself well.

I'll echo whoever said that there aren't many jobs that you go to work and worry about dying OR going to prison for a split second decision. I don't think the officer was justified, esp. since he told him to get his license, but...his movement was awkward. And as much as we are seeing cops shooting lately, I've seen at least 2 in the past couple weeks where a cop was shot and killed himself by a suspect so I can't necessarily blame cops for a quick reaction to protect themselves; many don't respect law enforcement. Doesn't mean he should shoot. Bad decision here. But a prime example of why I could never ever be a police officer.

I'd agree it's excessive. That's what they're saying the maximum sentence is, though. Not necessarily what he'll be walking away with.

I am, some of the time...

:lol2:Beautiful.

I would think the insurance companies would just assume people are killed in car wrecks versus long term injuries that cost thousands in treatment. Or even to be left alive to sue.

All of this over a damn seatbelt violation.

The trooper overreacted. No doubt about it. But question his actions after the stop and not question why he stopped him.

Timothy McVeigh was pulled over for a damn no license plate violation

Randy Kraft (the Freeway Killer) was pulled over for a damn improper lane change. On the stop, the officers noticed one of his victims propped up in the front seat dead.

Ted Bundy was pulled over for running a damn stop sign

Son of Sam was caught because of those damn parking tickets.

Sami Ibrahim Isa Abdel Hadi was stopped for damn tailgating in Ridgefield Park, New Jersey. When a Bergen County police officer called in Abdel Hadi's North Carolina license plates, he learned that Abdel Hadi had been ordered deported to Brazil in December 2001 and was listed in the FBI's National Crime Information Center database. Even more interestingly, Abdel Hadi has a valid temporary I.D. from L & L Painting to paint the George Washington Bridge, which is a high-profile potential terrorist target

And of course, police on patrol stopped and questioned a guy for something as minor as dumpster diving. Turns out it was Eric Rudolph, the Olympic bomber among other things.

The general public, for some reason, has some precontrived notion that Kentucky's law manual dictates a direct order of how laws are to be enforced. Thefts before traffic, assaults before burglaries, harassment before property crimes, etc.

There is no such general order. Officers determine what's important at that very time.

I don't support the obviously ill-trained officer here. I do support why the stop was made in the first place. American police have taken millions of dollars of drugs, countless fugitives and stolen cars, and even some terrorists and serial killers of the road because of those damn minor traffic violations. And I hope they continue to.

We disagree . I'm not a big "ends justifying the means" guy when it comes to stops.

But did you at least appreciate his use of the word "damn"?
