One of the dumbest laws around. If someone (over the age of 18) doesn't want to wear a seatbelt, they shouldn't be forced to. Serves no purpose IMO.

It's just a silly law. It is so rare that an unbuckled motorist in an accident could harm another peson that it isn't even worth debating it. It is basically another law from the government that is designed to protect you from yourself. Government knows best. I wear my seatbelt and I know it's a minor offense, but it makes me so angry.

 

I've stated on here before I know a person who was in the room when the law was being designed in KY and he fully admits the reason for the law has very little to do with saftey. It was about creating another law giving officers another primary offense to use to pull over vehichles. We debated the justification over beverages a few years ago.

 

Just drives me nuts.
