Lots of teams in TN. The odds of them playing are not that good. McCallie does play Siegal which is in Murfreesboro also. If you had gone to Blackman...you would have been ok. To say any different is silly. I have never heard of anyone being treated any different at Blackman than anywhere else. They have great facilities just as all Murfreesboro schools do. You would have had your own side to sit. It would have been a good game to play. Too bad it won't happen. Since the streak is over...would have made BG better for sure.

 

Ensworth will crush McCallie this weekend.

Ensworth was significantly better last year than they are this year...they "crushed" McCallie 28-14 at Ensworth. The go to McCallie this year. McCallie is better this year than they were last year. Good luck with that prediction.

Blackman fan here. I just wan to take this opportunity to say the following:

The main reason Blackman doesn't have any titles is they are a relatively new school (opened in 2000) and they play in the same division with all the other Rutherford County schools and Maryville. I doubt BG would have won any titles in that district and division in the last several years.

Tell you what, Mat, I got that information straight out of the Bowling Green Daily News. It was either in late July or early August, I can't remember which. But you can find out what you want on your time. I'm not going to research it or make it easy for you. Not my job. I am a handicapped veteran, and BGHS Football is one of my true joys. You want the info? You find it!

 

In my day (1974-76), I was a 5-7, 160 lb center. I wasn't intimidated by anybody then, and I'm less intimidated now because I did my part for the Air Force AND I'm a 31 year cancer survivor. I also don't have legs because they have been amputated above the knees. I also have a colostomy, a catheter, and severe radiation damage from too much radiation in my therapy to get rid of my cancer. I don't have time for people like you, and I won't put up with you. Life is hard enough, and my time won't be wasted. You don't have that right.:walk:

And until you put up, I'll advise you (rightly so) to shut up. What do you mean that he didn't cancel the game or buy out the contract? Are you serious?

 

Guess what? the game was cancelled, by Wallace, and Blackman got paid $5K by Bowling Green.

 

You seem to have plenty of time to dish it out and I'll admit, while I'm not here to make new drinking buddies, I will continue to defend our kids and point out the cheap antics of your coach and some of the referees in KY. And again, with all due respect to your service and advanced medical condition, I do have a right to post and offer opinion and I'll continue to do so until I am tired of it. If you dont like it, dont post back.

 

Now, if you want me to believe anything other than Wallace was scared to come to TN and get exposed, it is YOUR burden to produce the article you spoke of.

You can blow your balloon up any way you want, but in the end you have to pop it or let it go. We've moved on with a 26 to 25 win last year and a 21 to 20 loss this year. We aim to win the 5A State Championship again for the 4th consecutive year. Good luck taking on Maryville - you'll need it.

Thanks for the considerate post. I appreciate your opinion. All I heard last season was how classless our kids were and what thugs we had. My son was one of those players and he is most certainly not classless or a thug. They were criticized for running through Bowling Greens entrance. "Before the game, the Blackman players ran through and cut short Bowling Green’s entrance onto the field." - BG Daily News

 

At the beginning of the game, the boys had no idea where to run to. In TN, every stadium we have played at for years has a visitors side. When the team is away, the boys meet on that side of the field and run the length of the field in front of their fans. At BG, the team tried to run to us where we were seated on the far end of the bleachers and as the two teams ran out at the same time, things got discombobulated.

 

I have already addressed the difference in the "spirited play" that the referees in TN allow. At half time, our team made a big stop and we went into half excited with the lead and running out to the locker room was again a discombobulated mess. It was around that time that several girls in our band had nachos and cheese thrown on their uniforms by BG fans who were already convinced of our thuggery.

 

And put yourself in the shoes of Blackman. You travel to TN and your team gets TWELVE flags thrown on them. One for overzealous celebration / taunting after an interception to end the half or one for just touching the referee and tell me if you wouldn't feel similar. McCallie had 16 flags the other night?

 

I hope the best for the kids and fans at BG. You are right, we will need all the luck we can get with Maryville. You talk about streaks and records? Maryville has 6 losses in the last eleven years. They have the best ten-year record in high school football in the USA.

Mat, I believe you stated that Kevin Wallace bought out the contract with Blackman....I think you also stated that Bowling Green High bought out the Blackman contract....I just looked under our newspaper archives and here are some quotes.....

 

"no public school funds were used to negate the contract. " Coach, nor the school paid out the contract....you are wrong.....

 

 

“It was a great football game, but it was unfortunately controlled by a bunch of officials I guess decided they wanted it to be more about the state of Kentucky, I guess, than it was about high school football and high school athletes.”....

This was from your coach....What a laugh!!! We are not used to punches and kicks being thrown!!! Simply put, this is football, not a boxing match!!!!

 

 

He added that the Blaze had been called for four total unsportsmanlike conduct/personal foul penalties this season before Friday’s game, and that it could have been a great game if the officials had “been removed last night and just been normal human beings and let the kids play.”

Actually, from what I saw, Blackman should have been called for much more personal fouls than this....I was sitting on the track around the ten yard line...one of your players reached into the face mask of one of our players and gave him a good punch....our player came out with a bloody nose and this was not called....it happened right in front of me!

 

“We’re blessed to have a great school – lot of great coaches at our school in many sports and a lot of great kids at our school, so all the comments about how classless Blackman is and all those things that those idiots in Bowling Green said (Friday) night is a joke,” Shadowens said. “Anybody that knows us knows we’re competitive as heck. Well, your coach was quoted in calling us Bowling Green people idiots! Wow, what a role model for the kids!! If you do have a lot of great kids at that school it is not because of the role models of the coaching team..

Your boys were mouthing and cussing at our players....your boys were trying to throw punches at our players.....I, for one, think it is a blessing that our young men do not have to play with your team anymore....further, I would hope that if this happens in any other games in the future, the contract would be bought out again......THIS IS A GAME FOR YOUNG MEN. THEY DO NOT GET PAID, NOT DOING IT FOR FAME....THEY ARE DOING IT ONLY FOR THE LOVE OF FOOTBALL AND TO BUILD MEMORIES...GOOD MEMORIES....I am not guilty of thread jacking and that is one thing that I do hate.....so, sorry for my part in this!

I was, and am, really proud of them to this day. They are gentlemen that don't back down. However, they play the game according to the rules.

 

Added Bowling Green senior linebacker Austin Jones that night: “I was really surprised by those penalties. That just shows you that we play with class; they don’t, and we’re better than them.” ....And, this kid said it all!!! They did play with class!!!

This gives me much better perspective rather than just throwing mud back and forth at each other. If I were a Blackman parent I wouldn't have liked the outcome of the game or the flags and would defend my son as well. I dont think we're going to convince each other to see the other perspective and I'll just agree to disagree and move on.
