Mat, I believe you stated that Kevin Wallace bought out the contract with Blackman....I think you also stated that Bowling Green High bought out the Blackman contract....I just looked under our newspaper archives and here are some quotes.....

 

"no public school funds were used to negate the contract. " Coach, nor the school paid out the contract....you are wrong.....

 

 

...further, I would hope that if this happens in any other games in the future, the contract would be bought out again......

 

I know its tit for tat but for the record, Wallace decided to pay Blackman to buy out the contract. The funds that were used undoubtedly would have normally been used to advance the football program. Whether it came from he school general fund, or the school football fund or the booster club fund is no matter.

 

As for the rest of that, I'll just assume that I have made my point to most and move on.

I do continue to wonder why TN DII schools like McCallie and Ensworth must travel to KY to find games given that Blackman seems so egear to play all? In fact, looking at the Blaze's all time records, it seems that they never have played a TN DII school. Odd...

How do you know it was Kevin Wallace? It could have been the athletic director or the principal or the superintendent.....as for the rest, you can't argue with fact....so, I will leave it at that!!!! I hope your boys do well.

Some public schools won't play the DII privates. It appears some in KY won't play Trinity either. With the playoff system as it is...and with the toughness of the teams in that district...it would be a risk to play any good teams...non district. If you lose...you may not make the playoffs...or have to travel in them. It's a catch 22. If you play up...you may lose but get better. If you play down...you might win but not get better. The playoff system is a mess. It is changing back to near the old system next year. Many also think there will be a total public private split. It may happen...but I doubt it. There was a statewide vote on whether to totally split. I think publics voted to split by an overwhelming majority. I think over 75%.

It's obvious no one has a clue what they are talking about. Wallace did buy out the contract. When it says in the Daily News "No public school funds were used to buy out the contract" it meant by BGISD. That doesn't mean the QB club couldn't have bought them out. And I don't believe the reason was that we were scared.. I think it was pretty obvious that Wallace didn't want a repeat of what happened last year. Having this rivalry heated up one year later, coaches discrediting each other in newspapers, and let's not forget the near brawls at the game. What coach or parent would want to put their kids in that type of situation again? It'd just be a ticking time bomb for something to happen.

Sad.

It was a nice run, but lacked many signature wins. We can agree to differ on our opinions of the quality of that streak. I'm not saying they weren't a good team during that time either. The only answer to this is that you are showing that you don't think much of high school football in Kentucky. I hope everyone sees this and doesn't bother to validate the BG streak to you. It's not worth the time or energy.

Start a new streak. The streak was good. Football in Kentucky is not good. And 6 classes is way too many. I

believe there's about 6-7 decent teams in the state on a given year. Then there's another tier of about 9-10 competitive teams. Overall is easy for a team to make the state finals and have lots of weaknesses.

I would say that during our 50 game win streak at Trinity, which I was a part of, our signature win during each of those 4 years was indeed the St. X Tigers. With BG beating St. X 3 years in a row plus Blackmon I would say both streaks are in fact very comparable. It's unfortunate that BG and Trinity couldn't get together on a series but it doesn't degrade BG's streak whatsoever.
