Mind explaining what you mean about Trinity having money?

He means that there is a considerable difference in the level of apparent money that the two schools have and have had in the past as is displayed by their campuses and facilities.

Brutal? In the last week's MaxPreps Freeman computer poll, Bowling Green was ranked 189 in US. Their opponents looked like this.

4790 Mercer Co Harrodsburg

2341 @ Lexington Catholic

530 St Xavier Louisville

1424 @ Owensboro

McCallie is ranked #256 for the moment but they should rise after last night's win. After McCallie, BG faces two more Kentucky juggernauts: #5226 Barren Co to tie, and #12,786 Logan Co to break. Btw, there are around 15,000 h/s 11-man football teams in the country.

In the 3 full seasons of the run (games 1-44), BG played 16 teams with losing seasons and 3 with .500 seasons. Through the whole streak to date, BG’s opponents’ rankings go like this:

In 2011 BG finished #50 in the country, in 2012 #157,in 2013 #97. The 2014 schedule might have been semi-brutal if Blackman had not been unilaterally dropped by BG.

As for the Freeman rankings, not infallible by a long shot but it's all we have except the next longest ones, HSFB100 and PrepNation Top 25 + Top 10 in 7 regions.

You have a wonderfully skewed view that Trinity somehow won 50 in a row against the same level of competition it is playing (and losing about 50% of the time too) these days. You can bark all you want about mystical MaxPreps rankings and such, but how many teams in KY would be 4-0 against BG's schedule right now? Maybe 5 or 6? Your hope to dimish the accomplishments of BG's program displays a lack of class that is beneath what most of us perceive as what to expect from the Rock faithful.

Did not mean to slight T or X in any way. Simply talking about the cosmetics of McCallie campus. Looked like a mid major campus. Beautiful. Sorry if it came out wrong.

As far as opponent rankings, who cares. Handful of teams we have played compete deep in playoffs, not a lot but some. I'll take 48 in a row every day of the week.

Couple of bitter, petty Trinity fans.

I'm trying not to let them ruin it for the ones who are honest and not insulting.

What do we know about McCallie? Are they a defensive team or offensive team? How good are the teams they have faced this year? Is BG the best team they will have seen so far? How many do they bring back from last season?

One actually.

Don't forget two major factors in the McCallie game last year. One: it's a long way to Chattanooga...McCallie gets to make that trip this year. Two: the Purples had a wide open passing offense last year. They weren't used to running the ball to play keep away. Next thing you know, Blue Tisdale is toting the mail...lots of it! He was pretty exhausted after the game, but he did a great job and the coaching staff once again did a great job of adjusting to their opponent. Oops, forgot one other factor: the Purples last lost at the Hallowed Ground in 2010 in their home opener Trinity. You know, the one where their fourth string QB was the hero of the game and Trinity's head coach could not contain his relief and glee in winning that game 14-12. That streak now stands at 26 in a row. Donaldson Stadium/Beard Field has become a place where you don't want to be the visitor if you want to win. We don't resort to bush league tactics to intimidate other fans and teams. But we DO have the Bleacher Bums, and they look bizzare, shriek, and stand the whole game! They LOVE their Purples!

This year, we have TWO backs who are capable of doing what Blue did last year. Soph Jamale Carothers, who set the single game rushing record on 24 carries against Owensboro last week, and junior Jacob Yates, who sat out last week after getting hit in the kidney against St X. It was precautionary and he should be back this week. He's been held to under 100 yds rushing once this year to date. Senior WR Bradley Wierson is an excellent possession type receiver. However, if we need the home run, junior WR Robbie Lofton fits the bill, and he's the defending 3A Triple Jump Champion in track. But the three keys are to keep the ball away from their speedsters as much as possible, let Carothers and Yates do their thing while mixing in a few passes to keep them honest, and stay away from the stupid mistakes and glaring penalties.

I, for one, like our chances. If we get beat, we get beat and we have three weeks to get ready for the Backyard Brawl against Warren Central. But if we win, I have a feeling that the guys will get mobbed like they did against St X! And don't forget...I WILL be on the track with the Lucky Jersey!!!

Sic 'em, Purple!!!:thumb::thumb::thumb:

I voted for McCallie based on the fact that as one poster stated earlier, last year BG needed everyone of their excellent skill players to make big time plays. Unfortunately, BG does not have the number of top skill players they had last year. I believer McCallie will win, but the Purples will not roll over easy.

PS...it will not hurt my feelings if BG wins because if they do then their is a very good chance they surpass T in the winning streak category.

PPride,

This is what I know about McCallie:

- They return most of their starters from a solid team last year.

- On offense they run a similar offense to Owensboro. A lot of misdirection and try to get the ball to their main speedster who runs close to a 4.3 40. That kid has most of their TD runs and all are over 50 yards and several over 80 yards. He is not the only guy, but he and their QB, who I believe transfered in this year. He is the #2 runner on the team based on yardage.

- they will pass it but really havent had to yet.

- concerning their defense I'm not sure they have been really tested, but should be solid.

- concerning their schedule, my opinion is itbis heavily back-weighted meaning starting with this game you will find out what they are made of. They play Ensworth next, then anvery good Baylor squad. But up to now their opponents are a combined 4 and 12. I would call that poor.

BGs D typically doesnt give up those 80 yard runs, but we dont see alot of 4.3 speed across the line of scrimmage. Does our D that played St X show up or the D that showed up for Owensboro? For me, I think the D will be ready. I think our D was a bit "hung over" from StX and only showed up in the 2nd half against O. This is no slight on O, who played great just that BGs D was awesome prior to that game.

BGs O - can they keep McCallie O off the field, that will be big. Cameron Wallace out will hurt big, but as the platoon system is built - next man up!

Kicking game - We Have to tackle them before the 50 on kick offs. This makes me the most nervous.

BG can usually "out-athlete" other teams, not this Friday. It will be a dog fight!

Like PHaze, I'm confident and if we lose , we lose. All I want is to leave it on the field and never quit!

Go Purples!

Purples are bang up again coming into a another tough opponent . Losing Cameron Wallace (TE) will not help things at all but this team is different from other teams in the past. You have to take in consideration that these players have been waiting for their chance to shine and they are doing a pretty good job at it right now. Plus the stable of younger players are stepping up when needed. They might not be as flashy as the teams in the past but they fight until the final whistle. They might not look dominate on paper , stats or polls...but that's why they play game

I've thought long and hard on this one. I feel a defensive struggle much like the St. X game.

I'll take BG by the score of......8-7.

Watching video of McAllie - I think BG is simply better. I hope the purples do it and continue the streak.

BG: 14

MC: 12

Brown, I hope your Red Devils didn't beat them up enough to push the game to McCallie.
