Chic-Fil-A banned at high school football game by principal

But the forest keeps disappearing as you comment on the trees -- The owner of CFA made a personal observation to a direct question . In no way does the restuarant or business have any position on gays or gay marriage other than to state " we treat EVERYONE EQUALLY " as they should . But the left politicizes every issue they stand to gain popular support on. Makes it hard to have real progress .

I'm not against Chick-Fil-A helping out. I'm saying that a school administrator has the right to avoid controversy on campus by saying no to Chick-fil-A ... or a vocal proponent of gay rights.

Part of what's clouding this issue is that people who are all too familiar with cloistered, non-diverse Kentucky schools think that what's acceptable here should be acceptable everywhere.

I really doubt a bunch of HS kids even know or care about what chic fil a said. All they care about is food and cost.

Its their leader who let them down. If the kids want to really protest, then give them the chance to NOT BUY at the game. Thats what democracy is all about.

actually, most of them do care about the underlining issue, and many would care about what they said. Besides, if they want the food so bad, people would just go to a Chic Fi La.

The "we treat everyone equal" comment was simply an attempt at damage control after it became public that owners of the privately held company were funding what some see as anti-gay causes as well as making public comments on the topic. Of course this darling of Christian capitalism will take everyone's money. I do think it's a stretch to try to separate the company from the Cathy family, and I also think it's simplistic to assume that the company's actions would not bring about negative public reaction in some areas of the country.

Chik-fil-A is simply providing free sandwiches to a booster club. The only discord is provoked by those wishing for discord to be provoked.

THIS!!!!!!!

Now they have actions? I thought this just had to do with the owner's answer when questioned about gay marriage. What will you have them do next to support your case? :ohbrother:

The owner was asked a question and answered it. There are no company actions that warrant negative public reaction, on the contrary a simple research of the company will find many, many positive company actions that should be praised. By everyone. Only the ignorant are allowing themselves to be sucked in by the propaganda.

Agreed. Also regarding the comment about high school kids caring. I believe they care about issues, but also their information and experiences are limited. If a person of influence to them....preacher, parent, teacher, coach, etc. tells them that something is bad/good...8+ out of 10 of them will believe that this is the fact.

Now they have actions? I thought this just had to do with the owner's answer when questioned about gay marriage. What will you have them do next to support your case? :ohbrother:

It's disingenuous to try to separate the Cathy family from its business. Same holds true for for Hobby Lobby and the Green family.

For the umpteenth time ... the Cathys and Greens can contribute and speak as they desire. Let's just don't act surprised or outraged when the consequences sometimes are negative.

Then why no praise for their actual actions? Not speech and donations by their owners but the company's actual actions and donations that have helped thousands and thousands of people. How about feeding a few thousand auto workers on the last day of their plant being closed? How about feeding people stranded by the winter storms? How about their untold donations to local organizations such as the one mentioned in the original post?

What's funding WinShape, the vehicle by which the Cathy family furthers its socio-political agenda? Answer: Chick-fil-A profits.

So someone must think they are pretty good.

You're arguing that we need to look at charitable totality rather than focus on specific comments/donations. Oh that Major League Baseball would have adopted that enlightened view when Marge Schott made her famous remarks about the former leader of Nazi Germany!

Adults are the same way! I'll be posting a new thread in the coming days talking about one particular issue. Will be in this forum or religious.

It's always fun to reverse the facts in a story to see what the reaction would be.

What if, in a conservative area, a high school administrator cut out a vendor who was a vocal supporter of gay marriage and other gay causes?

Would you be applauding or condemning those same actions?

I would feel the same as I do in the Chick-fil-A case. Why wouldn't I?
