September 15, 201412 yr You should apply for the assistant principal job at Ventura HS, that lady would love you. Both of you could spend the day throwing chick fil a sandwiches in the garbage on a Sunday. First thing I'd do is tell the football boosters to put on some car washes and forget about the political chicken.
September 15, 201412 yr Author First thing I'd do is tell the football boosters to put on some car washes and forget about the political chicken. So you would waste water, isn't Calif in a drought and someone has to pay for the water. The chicken is free.
September 15, 201412 yr It makes me laugh when christians say their belief system gets "persecuted" in Murica!
September 15, 201412 yr Life is so much easier when others can make judgement choices for you. Don't stop with Chick-Fil-A, though. Ban sodas, candy and hot dogs because they are bad for you. Don't allow cheering because it could adversely affect the self-esteem of the other team. Make everyone dress in white so as not to accidentally be sporting gang colors. No Star Spangled Banner before the game because Hispanic Americans may be offended. And what the heck, don't even keep score so that everyone can be a winner.
September 15, 201412 yr Chick-fil-A has brought this controversy onto itself. The company has a right to donate to right-wing causes that advocate this or that, and its customers have a right to refuse to do business with Chick-fil-A. Simple as that. The fact that the Cathy family is devoutly Christian has little to do with what's going on. Back to the subject of this thread. A public school official is over the line if she is administrating the political views of the vendors that serve the school. IMO, this is an abuse of power and most likely is illegal.
September 15, 201412 yr It's always fun to reverse the facts in a story to see what the reaction would be. What if, in a conservative area, a high school administrator cut out a vendor who was a vocal supporter of gay marriage and other gay causes? Would you be applauding or condemning those same actions?

Absolutely, if the circumstances were the same, why not?

No need to invite discord if it can be avoided in a learning environment. In this case, Chick-fil-A is involved, and that automatically stirs up the right-wing firebrands.

The only discord is provoked by those wishing for discord to be provoked.

You're against Chick fil A helping out since you view anything CFA as poliical, would you also be against a vocal proponent of gay rights helping out?

I'm not against Chick-Fil-A helping out. I'm saying that a school administrator has the right to avoid controversy on campus by saying no to Chick-fil-A ... or a vocal proponent of gay rights. Part of what's clouding this issue is that people who are all too familiar with cloistered, non-diverse Kentucky schools think that what's acceptable here should be acceptable everywhere.
