I see nkypete says Holy Cross played bad tonight and there is no doubt about that. The question is did the Tigers make them look worse than they are. Regardless, put win #1 in the books and move on to next week. I see Franklin County won a close one over Frankfort. Next week's game will be a measuring stick for the Tigers.

From reading the thread on the Frankfort/Franklin Co game, sounds like the Panthers may have gotten hosed by the refs. Certainly the penalties were very one-sided. I doubt the Flyers will get all those calls on the road vs the Tigers.

Good measuring stick? Has HC ever beaten Beechwood? IMO HC will only win a few games this year, how can that be a "good measuring stick"? Yes, CCH and Franklin Co are the games that matter as THEY are the measuring sticks, it will show how they improved, if they improved, and will show what the team might do Vs a team such as Mayfield. And lastly, yes, he does posts a lot of threads, for some reason, he has been here forever, LOL!

And yes, I use a 2A school to measure how we will perform against 1A schools because they are closer to the size, athleticism etc. of the other 1A schools we will play. Ex, Bellvue Ludlow Dayton etc. Getting stomped in the ground vs the large schools are used as measuring sticks too, just not in the same way that playing schools more closely resembling teams that we are going to face in the playoffs, thus backing my statement that EVERY GAME MATTERS. I don't know why that is so hard to understand.

It in no way represents anything close to the solid 1A playoff teams we will face later in playoffs. It may not even be up to par with a round 1 team we will face.

 

The "Beechwood Hate" thread as you called it, was not anything against the kids so you don't need to defend them. This is a very talented BW team. Maybe the best since 2008. There were high expectations and "The Old Guard" and "BW Natives" are frustrated with what hasn't changed... Same old crappy play calling, lack of adjustments and simply not being prepared.

Well I can assure you, because I know first hand about Beechwoods coaches (unlike anyone else on this site) that these coaches study tape, prepare these kids, do all the things necessary during halftime of these games, and teach these kids just as much if not more than any coaching staff in the area. We are a small school, we do the best with what we get. When your starters that play summer baseball miss summer football practices, things aren't going to be as solid on week 1 or week 2 of the season as "old natives" might like. They will get it together. No need to bash Rash, Hergott, Brilz, or any of the other coaches. Whatever grudges the guys on this site are holding need to let it go. These are good coaches and even better life teachers. I would know, I played for them.

Holy Cross was not a very good football team last night. I'm surprised they were able to score on Simon Kenton.

 

Fieger only threw 6 passes. Would have liked to have seen Beechwood work on the short passing game too. I understand just driving the ball down their throats on the first drive but their passing game needs some live action practice. In comparison Simon Kenton threw the ball 13 times vs Holy Cross.

 

I do have a problem with a large number of Beechwoods defensive starters still in the game up 44-0 with less than 3 minutes left in the 3rd quarter of a running clock game. Empty the benches and get those guys as many snaps as you can!
