LTR, I'm with you. I'm cautious anyway, but for High School this is as much of a Trap Game as BG will have all season. They played a good Lex Cath team on the road Week 2; Squeaked out a win over a very tough X squad; Now they travel and play a solid team that has nothing to lose and would LOVE to beat them. With McCallie the following week. I feel a let down coming. BG wins, but not by as much as the paper pushers would think.

 

The defense is just as good as it has been the last few years, the difference is their offense is average. They remind me a bit of the '08 team. Nice pieces, but has not fully comed together yet. Now, if the defense is able to generate some turnovers, then all bets are off on the the offense.

That's what happened against Mercer County and allowed BG to win pretty big. They got several turnovers against X, but they were on the BG side of the field and X did a good job in the field position game and never let BG get good field position (their punter also had a lot to do with this). Not sure if Owensboro has given up a lot of turnovers this year or not, but would believe not by the margin of victory in their games.

Bowling Green will win this game and most others because of 1 name. BEN HOLT.... Just watched his highlights and he is that good! No wonder no one can score on them. QBs are running for their lives for entire games... He is one of the best defensive players I have seen at this level with a relentless motor. If BG wins another Championship this year, it will be much due to his impact on the defensive side.

It is interesting how BG has beaten Lexington catholic and St. X in successive weeks and yet, they have a single player who is keeping them afloat and they are similar to a 2008 BG team that barely beat a 4-7 North Hardin team, struggled to beat a 4-7 Warren East team, and lost to a 7-4 Henderson Co. team. :idunno:

This is the game of the Week in Kentucky!!! If I was in O'boro this Friday I would go to see this one for sure!!!! I picked Bowling Green however it would not surprise me to see OHS give em a game at least for half or three qtrs.....

Ben Holt is a beast! Put him at DE and an OL can not handle him. Put him at OLB and there's not a RB strong enough to block him effectively unless he's a 240 lb bowling ball rolling downhill. He's the real deal! The Purples have continued to improve each week, and I see no reason why this shouldn't continue this week unless something creepy happens at the Dungeon (and it often does for those not familiar with old Rash Stadium!).

Tevin was about it on offense. LaVance was hurt for the majority of the '08 season, and JP Jackson, while a solid QB wasn't going to beat people like Trent Steelman did before him.

 

I compared the two because they didn't have great playmakers, just a good unit that could score just enough to win ball games.

BG beat North Hardin 28-7 and Warren East 34-16 in '08. So just like in 2014 the score does not indicate how close the game actually was. So yeah, I would compare the '08 OFFENSE to the '14 OFFENSE.

I think this will be a close game, but the Purples will pull away at the end and shift their focus to the big game with MC.

I don't think the Howard kid starts and not sure on the Weissand TE/DE. Oboro does have a huge adn active O-line this year, but I have them at: 293, 320, 230, 210, 310 left to right. They do sub some at the G and T it seems like though. They have several RB's that can carry the ball. Very fast, but the biggest is probably 185.
