Highlands made the plays with discipline and Station made the plays with...lets just say it cost them big in the end.

 

I said it in the pre game thread and I will say it again, Station played like it was their state championship and Highlands kept their composure for 4 qtrs and finished...

 

I was very impressed with the way Highlands didn't panic and just kept focused and kept on grinding.

Station has some super athletes and if they could bring this intensity and playmaking every week they would be very tough out imo.

 

They just lost to St X and Highlands back to back and they have nothing to hang their heads about but they just need to stay focused and learn from their silly mistakes.

 

Highlands D played outstanding imo and unless you were there you have no idea of how well they actually played against a bunch of men playing backyard football and acting like they have never been in the endzone before...

 

Word to the wise, you dont punch Highlands in the mouth and then laugh at them....Stoooooooopid:thumb:

Hoge 13/25 226 2 TDs 9 carries 108 yards 3 TDs

Urlage 111 yards on 24 carries

HHS had 570 yards of offense

 

Station QB had 324 yards passing and 4 TDs

 

344 yards rushing... That's getting it done... Kuddos to Coach Turner and Hall and the O Line who kept on keeping on throughout the game. Heard the HHS offense ran 88 plays.

 

Agree with Sweep that if you weren't there you really can't appreciate how well the defense played. Station has some tremendous athletes. Their QB may be the best dual threat QB the Birds will see all season. #8 Key is a major player. His father Donte' played for UK back in the day.

Tough to defend when plays are extended 15-20 seconds just about every play. Curious if you were there what you saw that could have been handled differently. Run D was solid and from what I understand the game plan was not to blitz, only contain. If Station'S QB gets anyone in space he is tough to handle. Great win Birds! Nice pick by Cowboy to end it!

Wait, I'm confused. The Highlands defense gave up 41 points and the opposing QB threw for 324 yards and 4 tds and you guys are cool with that? The defense isn't concerning?

Could not get over the athleticism of so many players on Bryan Station's team. # 3 was fast receiver. QB was slippery with his ability to elude all defenders and make plays happen. That game literally came down to the last pass by Bryan Station with 24 seconds left. I was curious as to why they would change their strategy mid-second quarter and pretty much for the rest of the game and start going for home run balls every time they got near mid field with a first down. No disrespect to Defenders coaching staff, but why change what is working for you. I personally am glad you did. Everyone there was very polite. Still can't get over the amount of talent that team has. Glad we don't play them again for a while. It was as close as a game as the state championship was if not closer.

With that team, yes. You have to see Brian Station to believe. Which is exactly why the recruiters from West Virginia State were there. I assume they were there for multiple players. What a game! We'll take that win and run.

Absolutely! Considering we won't play another team all year that relies so much on busted plays, not to mention I can't remember any 1st or 2nd down play going for a first down or TD. Like others have said, you just had to be there.

Note to FBB: If you want to sell us on the athleticism of a particular team, don't throw West Virginia State out there as a suitor.

That game was a gift to highlands because it shouldn't have been close...as many pointed out there were a"few," questionable coaching decisions and Qb #2 is still growing up in the position I really liked the way hhs Qb played very tough kid. But as rick flair says to be the man you gotta beat the man wooo! There were improvements so now on to week 4 Lexington cath good luck birds

Actually both teams make way too many mistakes to claim a gift by one team to another. Birds have a lot of things to improve; a lot. So do the Defenders.

 

I did see improvement by the Birds from the CC game though in certain facets of the game.

 

Keep working hard and improving and you can accomplish your goal.
