Alot of distractions in the Holmes program toward the end of the season led to their fall-off....but atleast they all have one more go around next year together. I expect them to return to the top next year as alot of their main competition lose key players after this season.

Good point, the top teams are senior oriented. New thread next year top teams?

I think that was Holmes downfall as well...not having that one senior leader to step up and take control like Lexie and Ryan Mitchell did for the dawgs last year. Covcath, Highlands, and Dixie all have great senior leadership which why they are still playing.

"Hard Work Will Beat Out Talent Anyday." Holmes has better talent than Dixie but just didnt work hard enough to overcome the adversity they faced at the end of the game and Dixie did.

CCH will enter the pre-season as #1.

CCH will enter the pre-season as #1.

Who do they lose besides timmy t and mike young?

Who do they lose besides timmy t and mike young?

Joe Landrum. Danny Noll.

Those are four very big losses...covcath may enter the pre season with the #1 ranking but simply because they will be the defending region champs (yes im predicting them to win this year). Holmes will be too deep and talented next year not to run away with the region....but thats if they can stay focused and avoid distractions.

First off let me congratulate dixieon the victory...i was one of the ones predicting holmes walking all over them..

As far as Holmes being better without jefferson? you have got to be kidding me....that technical should have never been called and as everyone knows this kid plays emotional. Whenever Holmes doesnt have jefferson in, this is when holmes really struggles because they dont have that true point gaurd to bring the ball up. So that comment needs to be stopped right there... one minute you all are praising the kid and the next your bashing him...he is one of the best pg in the region...get over it and quit downing him...he is a 16 year old kid...he is going to make mistakes so learn to live with it and not bash him when something happens...

But as far as the game, NAte edmondson i feel carried the team tonight he is who sparked the bulldogs rally when down 12. BTW why didnt JoSh Nelson play tonight? i would much rather see him in than Bj Avery...Bj had several costly turnovers tonight and bad shots...but so did DJ and several other bulldogs so i guess it doesnt matter...well good luck to dixie and they will be who im rooting for now to win this.

DAWGS, keep your heads up and dont let this be another distraction...you all return next year and there is no doubt who will be taking that 9th region title home next year as long as you STAY FOCUSED...overcome all of the adversity and prove all of your doubters wrong

The whole program is a ticking time bomb so there is no way you can predict that they will "take the 9th region title" next year. Their team was dismantled starting last year when they lost Lexie Brown. Yes, they have some of the best individual players in the region and I stress INDIVIDUAL. Duran apparently made a foolish mistake last night and his credibility should not rest on that mistake but it was foolish. Hill played his guts out all season and IMO should get some votes for POY. Henderson is still just a Soph so as far as him taking over a game, it wasnt going to happen this year. Edmonson didnt seem to show up this year and from what I hear with all of the tension in the locker room I can understand. They do not have a bench so when you get a couple cylinders not working the wheels usually fall off which is what we saw the last 8 games of the season. Good Luck Bulldogs next year as they are fun to watch but crowning them already is a little pre-mature.

Did the Richardson kid play when Dixie and CCH played? I don't remember him but I've seen his name mentioned in the last few games for Dixie.

Been injured most of the season, and was playing JV to get back. Just started contributing at the varsity last 5 games.

1) Did anybody notice Josh Keener get yanked out of the game and get his butt chewed for talking on the floor. Congrats Coach Chev, 4 seconds away from his biggest win as a coach, and he was teaching his players to do the right thing.

2) Dixie's JV Coach did a great job of diffusing the situation after the game, however all the coaches from both teams should of remained on the floor untill the players were off. Emotions were running high after that game and Dixie's JV coach (who looks pretty young himself) was the only coach out there.

One team had quick-as-lightening methodical perimeter passing that was executed beautifully to find an open shot. That team slagged for awhile to catch their breath, but turned it back on again when it was needed down the stretch. That team won. That team had a plan. That team is well coached. That team reminded me of Florida over Kentucky on Sunday. The other team should've been shown a tape of Florida over Kentucky on Sunday and Monday. The other team had talented players. The other teams' players play on a team that traditionally never seems to be taught the importance of the type of plan that the winning team had. Not sure if they're never taught or they just never listen. If they are never taught I can hardly blame them for losing. If they just don't listen then they only have themselves to blame. The winning team not only won because the deserved to and that they scored more points than the other team, they won because they are being taught by someone who really understands the game of basketball and is able to convey this to his players and his players execute. Perhaps the lesson learned by the losing team and its teachers is to once and for all learn the game of basketball, teach it to your players, and last but not least...HAVE A PLAN!!!

I guess 16 regional titles is not a winning tradition but I guess 2 regional titles is a winning tradition?

B-ball-fan, you seem to be attacking Coach Henley in your diatribe. Unless you've been in the huddle and/or at practices, I'm going to assume that you have no basis for your assumptions.

I've watched some talented Dixie teams shoot themselves out of potential victories by jacking up 3s rather than running an offense. Should I assume that was "the plan" by Coach C? Should I attack him for not "having a plan"?

Or, or should I assume that he's coaching excitable kids who don't always use the best judgment DESPITE his best intentions?

Take it easy on Coach Henley. If you're wanting people to vote, your guys loses. Henley is good.
