Dixie 54 Holmes 50

Featured Replies

First the technical was with 4 minutes left in the game and should never been called. Let the teams decide on who is going to win the game.

The BIG difference in this game was coach Henley pulling the ball out to half court every time down. He started doing this with 7 minutes left in the game. This team is NOT a half court team.

I was not at the game so I cannot defend the T or say is was warranted. From seeing the way DJ has played for 2 years, he is very emotional, and at times has trouble controlling those emotions, so it doesn't surprise me. I will agree, however with your second point. Holmes is a run and gun team that thrives in the open court and cannot be stopped by most teams when they are running, especially late in the game. Sounds like they just imploded at the wrong time, also which does not surprise me.

It didn't matter which team won to me. I just went to watch two good teams play and hate to see an offical call a technical late in the game that could effect the out come.

Thats fine, but as I told some CovCath players tonight. You have to know that this isn't the same as a regular game. This isn't your buddy buddy officials doing the games. These guys don't know you or who you are. They aren't going to take any crap and I don't blame them. Your not going to get by slamming a ball on the floor or talking back or faces and tantrums like Duran did for most of the night.

The official gave Duran a chance to calm down and walk away. Duran decided not to listen went nutz right in front of the official. Duran might not have thought the ref was going to see it, but he did and he deserved the tech for acting like brat. Maybe this is finally the day he learns his lesson.

My thoughts exactly. 5th region officials, while they might know who you are, are not used to your anticts, which means they will not tolerate you.

I too am indifferent on this one...but in defense of the refs...they called a very balanced...let em play game overall. When Henderson reacted the first time the ref let it go...then he jumped and stomped again with more body language.while a teammante ? bounced the ball down and let it fly about 10' in the air (which is almost always called a T) ..anyway, Henderson definitely deserved the T...the ref was very cool and you could tell by his hesitation didn't want to call it....

I agree. The ref was going to let it go but the extra body language AND the ball slamming were just too much not to get a T! Correct call without a doubt!

I could not agree more. Duran Jefferson has never commited a foul in his opinion! He always has that look of " You have got to be kidding me... I did not even touch him"

Then to top it off after the game instead of shaking the hand of # 5 for Dixie he tried to push him and get in his face. It looked like he thought # 5 from Dixie cost Holmes the game.

Maybe he did because # 5 player hard and under control.

He deserved it! Refs did a great job!

Just to clarify for the readers. Henderson didn't get the Technical foul, Jefferson did.

This is the best Statement of the night!

I did see that after the game. Dixie's JV coach had to seperate Duran from the Dixie players. He's probably still talking. I just wonder if anyone is listening.

You make a valid point NKYBoy, these aren't the refs you see on a weekly basis, you have to keep your cool especially when leading by 8 in the 4th quarter.

Dixie did a fantastic job down the stretch and deserved to win the game. Ken Chevalier is a fantastic coach and used his bench very well. His kids play with a lot of heart.

The bottom line for Holmes is that Duran Jefferson is a problem. He is a selfish player and he cost his team big time tonight. Dixie was in a very bad spot and he let them back into the game. Holmes would be much better off without Duran. He sets a very bad example for his teammates.

I feel bad for Austin Hill because he is a warrior. He seems like a very classy kid that cares a great deal about winning. I didn't see him having a fit everytime something did not go his way. He was very emotional after the loss. Holmes should have went to him a lot more down the stretch.

Kyle Kendal and TJ Richardson did a fantasic job for Dixie off of the bench.

First off let me congratulate dixieon the victory...i was one of the ones predicting holmes walking all over them..

As far as Holmes being better without jefferson? you have got to be kidding me....that technical should have never been called and as everyone knows this kid plays emotional. Whenever Holmes doesnt have jefferson in, this is when holmes really struggles because they dont have that true point gaurd to bring the ball up. So that comment needs to be stopped right there... one minute you all are praising the kid and the next your bashing him...he is one of the best pg in the region...get over it and quit downing him...he is a 16 year old kid...he is going to make mistakes so learn to live with it and not bash him when something happens...

But as far as the game, NAte edmondson i feel carried the team tonight he is who sparked the bulldogs rally when down 12. BTW why didnt JoSh Nelson play tonight? i would much rather see him in than Bj Avery...Bj had several costly turnovers tonight and bad shots...but so did DJ and several other bulldogs so i guess it doesnt matter...well good luck to dixie and they will be who im rooting for now to win this.

DAWGS, keep your heads up and dont let this be another distraction...you all return next year and there is no doubt who will be taking that 9th region title home next year as long as you STAY FOCUSED...overcome all of the adversity and prove all of your doubters wrong

I thought Holmes failed to feed Edmondson and Hill in the 4th quarter.

Nate was hotter than a pistol the 1st 3 quarters, but I don't think he touched the ball for the 1st 5 minutes of the 4th quarter. That frustrated him to the point that he forced bad shots when he did get the ball late.

Austin posted his man on the blocks very well several times. The ball got to the corner on his side, but the pass was never made inside. Several times after the ball was reversed away from the post side, Austin would put his arms out in frustration and look over at the bench. He clearly wanted the ball but did not get fed.

you are correct...thanks

Not sure what Dixie's FT % is for the year but they missed several FT's in the 2nd half. They did make some key ones though in the final minutes.

I sure hope not! Because his act is getting really old!

I really like this time of year ( regionals) to see the players, coaches, students really focused. The atmosphere is usually always high energy and great to watch a couple of weeks worth of basketball. BUT, then you watch one team or player put themselves first and it really takes away from high quality of team basketball at this time of year.

I really hope that we DO NOT see this selfish behavior next year!

Also, I hope to never hear again about Coaches suspended, parents complaining, etc. enough already.

oh and jefferson didnt even have the ball so how could he slam it...he simply walked away kinda jumping around and there were no refs around him...i was 20 feet away from him so i think id know pretty well
