Big Brother getting really big

Database tracking 'hate speech' on twitter.

Feds creating database to track hate speech on Twitter | Fox News

Particularly - 'political' hate speech.

The federal government is spending nearly $1 million to create an online database that will track “misinformation” and hate speech on Twitter.

The National Science Foundation is financing the creation of a web service that will monitor “suspicious memes” and what it considers “false and misleading ideas,” with a major focus on political activity online.

If they are JUST spending a Million Dollars to create a database for Misinformation and Hate Speech on Twitter I have one thing to say...."They are going to need a bigger boat"

Here track me.

I hate Obama, Harry Reid, Lois Lerner, Pelosi, Clinton's, Bush's, Carter's, Feinstein, Emanuel, Eric Holder.

Put that in you pipe and smoke it.

Clyde the funny thing is many on here don't get how this ties into other on going threads on this site . But this is very scary if true.

And don't forget the biggie from the sheeple, "I have nothing to hide".

Nope. Nothing to hide at all. And I still don't care. Anyone who thinks they can get on the internet and be anonymous or be private is way more naive than I am. Anyone who thinks Big Bro hasn't been watching because of the constitution is way more naive than I am. People fall in love with the idea of the government not being allowed to do _______ when the fact of the matter is that the government has been doing it since the government was founded.

In the past, it was possible to maintain some anonymity on the internet because the technology did not exist to allow the government to do the kind of snooping that it can perform now on a large scale.

If something is not done to curb federal power, then it will just be a matter of time until whichever party controls the White House will be able to simply enter your Social Security Number and have a computer program tell them whether you are a political friend or foe. That is too much power for any American to wield over any other American.

As Nixon and Obama have shown us, whatever power exists to reward and punish political friends and enemies, it will be abused. It is only a matter of time before everybody is on the receiving end of that abuse.

Anybody who thinks that it is not dangerous having the federal government monitoring private phone calls and email is extremely naive and anybody who says that they have "nothing to hide" to justify the actions of a lawless executive branch is a danger to every American's freedom.

Oh, so you think they haven't been doing this for decades already? You think that in the 90s this technology didn't allow the government to do this already? You think this is new to 2014 and you only mention Nixon and Obama because no way Reagan, Bush I, Clinton and Bush II would use that info that they could get with a phone call. Edward Snowden is the first person in NSA to have access to pirvikieged information? Come on, now......

The technology did not exist in the 90s to even think of monitoring every phone call and email message made or sent by American citizens.

I mentioned Obama and Nixon by name because they are examples of morally bankrupt presidents who would abuse whatever technology was placed at their disposal and both have politicized federal agencies to an unprecedented extent.

If Nixon had possessed today's technology, I doubt that he would have resigned from office. It is much easier to destroy electronic records than it is to shred paper and erase tapes without leaving a trail, as Obama's administration has demonstrated repeatedly.
