So Lex Cath and Boyle switched spots from the preseason rankings, which makes sense to me given the outcome of their games last week. Collins drops one after losing to SK...makes sense. Mercer drops by two after a shellacking from Bowling Green, and Russell County drops off the list to be replaced by Knox Central after Danville beat them handily. Everything looks good to me.

I've always loved this class of 4A football, the games of the top 4 teams are always fun!

Cov Cath has #3 1A Beechwood on their schedule, Boyle has #7 2A Danville on their schedule, Ashland has #8 1A Raceland on their schedule, Owensboro has #8 2A Owensboro Catholic on their schedule, Mercer County has #5 2A Glasgow on their schedule, and Knox Central has #3 #A Bell County and #8 3A Corbin on their schedule. In order for any team to "play up", another has to "play down".

 

What case do you have for another team in the rankings?

There it is. And, here is my company line, the only difference in football teams is: Platoon, or not platoon. Other then that, size of the school gets you nothing.

I think Madisonville is being seriously overlooked. I expect them to knock O'boro off its perch this year. They'll have one of the better offensive teams in WKy this year. They didn't lose much off last years team and have some nice looking athletes coming up in the lower classes.

They scored 13 points against Greenwood. That's not a great offensive team.

It's not the size of the school that I have a problem with. It's the # 8 ranking that is my problem. All the 4A schools in KY and we don't have any with a better resume' to be considered in the top ten?

Platoon or not platoon? Example; Highlands started platooning in 2009, and they had how many state titles before then? How many 1A schools have the TALENT and the NUMBERS to platoon? I'll wait. I'm a Bluebird fan, I've known about "THE NUMBERS" for a long time.
