Hahahaha, thanks backspin.

Should be one of the more intriguing Week 1 matchups... Lord Willing and if the field don't flood

Don't mention bringing a boat, it infuriates guys from other areas of Boyd Co. Hahaha

Ashland's secondary will be 6'1" Long' date=' 6' 3" Gilliam, 5'11" Bradley, and you will see Baker at times. The secondary is tall and athletic. They should matchup ok. I think the underneath receivers run the risk of getting whacked by OBryan. What does all that mean? Raceland will complete passes for sure. I think that number will be under 50% and I think they will turn it over at least once in the passing game. I dont think they will be able to catch a short pass and consistently get a lot of yards after. They will give Ashland some problems with their diversity early and if they are able to compete early who knows. If Ashland happens to get ahead early, who knows.[/quote']

Our receivers are 6', 6'4", 5'10", and 5'9". Sounds like a great match-up. Most 1A schools wouldn't look forward to playing Ashland. Win or lose, I love the atmosphere, the great game and the respect between players, coaches and fans. Heck, I was offered a job opportunity last year at the game. Can't beat that!

Your coif looks great at least.

And again with the attacks. How about game discussion? How about how Raceland plans to contain Baker? How about the odds that they can establish any sort of run against them to keep them moderately honest against the pass? Surely you got some type of inside info when you're up there getting that coif trimmed in Ashland every week. Come on' date=' give us some insight on how YOU plan on making this happen. Or you could continue your juvenile jabs at Fairview which is typical.[/quote']

Raceland will use a similar approach to this game as to every game: out work your opponent. We will do the same as last year when containing Baker. Baker rushed for, if I recall correctly, 63 yards last year. The QB, Prince, is who ran all over us. I think Ashland's approach last year in the first half was to get the ball to Baker. After we shut him down, they came back in the second half and they ran a boot, faking it to Baker. Very good coaching on Ashland's side to notice that. Raceland will contain the backs. And I am not worried about our secondary. Ashland will put up rushing yards. No doubt. It's whether or not our defense will BEND not BREAK. Last year, Ashland got a cheap deep pass off a defenders tip. If we could have knocked the ball down, or intercepted, the ball, the game would have been a lot different.

Offensively, we will do fine. Statistically, the spread offense puts numbers up. We will pass, we will establish the run. It may not be 300+ rushing or passing. But there will be a good number of both. Our offense is complex and difficult to anticipate the upcoming plays. Raceland's line has heart, and you can't coach heart. They are coachable and I know they will work for the run game. I've coached them myself, I have seen it. It will happen. Young will throw for 150+, almost guaranteed. But it's not the offense that is my concern. My concern is the defense. Ashland has more players, more depth. Raceland kids play both ways, and Ashland held that advantage last year.

Last year Raceland was in great shape, well hydrated and focussed. From Monday-Friday, the starters and rotation guys carried water jugs around school. Drank two to three a day, and yet, we still found ourselves cramping in the fourth quarter and over time. Not using that as an excuse. Ashland had a gut check time and made a wonderful pass and an even better catch to win the game. They deserved it.

Also, to your comments on the score: I like your approach to throwing Raceland under the bus. Driving up the score? Only schools such as Fairview would have the intent of driving the score up to embarrass another team. Shows what kind of class Westwood withholds. Sad honestly. But that's why us Racelanders don't talk that much smack-we let the scoreboard do the talking on that Mid October evening. As of now, I do believe we have the right away to talk around here with the 36-14 showing last year at Ram Stadium. But I forgot, we are talking about the Raceland-Ashland game, no more jabs. WE will save the knockout for a different game.

I appreciate your analysis. Very thorough. Unlike the tail smooching this thread has morphed into.

You must earn the right to "tail smooch".....it's a very nice incentive to hold. You should try it some day. ;)

I dont understand hair styles, heck I have more hair on my back than I do my head. I dont understand earning the right to be the smoocher or the smoochee or incentive of either. I believe that Ashland is better this year than last and I believe Raceland was better last year than this. I hope all stay injury free. If Ashland doesnt put it on the ground, they will win.

Can't posters just be nice to each other? I honestly think that I answered who I thought would win without being overbearing. I think if we control Ashland's run game we will win. We contained Baker last year but Prince broke our back with several good runs. So, I like our chances if our defensive front seven play to their abilities.
