Anyone killed without due cause is too many...just like the 548 police officers shot and killed in the line of duty over the past 10 years or the 14 that were stabbed to death or the 8 that were beaten to death. Do you think it is coincidence so little information is allowed out from a police force in SERIOUS CYA mode? Their actions so far provide for more than a fair share of judgment. We could start with the innocent dog that barked at someone jumping the fence in his back yard. Or any other thread questioning law enforcement on this site. You, Rocket and HB are going to defend the badge at every turn. We are at a point that police gunning down unarmed black males is a SERIOUS problem, and at that point those with the badge need to step back and look in the mirror across the board. Are you guys up to the challenge to change the way this portion of the history book is being written??? I'm not attacking your character one bit. Zero. I'll try to be clear. Are you willing to help instigate change in a broken system? If an officer does something wrong are you going to call him out. If not, maybe I am challenging your character. Considering it an "attack" says plenty... You know what we don't hear? The good cops making a stand on this issue. Can anyone find me coverage of even one of the close to a million good cops saying they are ready to change a disturbing trend? No? I'll hang up and listen... Unarmed black men are being killed by police gun fire from coast to coast. What is the reason? Since you have such a great grasp on all things, do tell... Are you saying because there are black men that are involved in gang activity, all black men are open to death by police gun fire just in case? GTFOH... Easy solution to all of this. The police stop thinking shoot first and ask questions later. If even 5% are doing it, it is a MAJOR problem. That is why I say the good cops are capable of enacting change. Do you see a significant "Trend"? The Mother Jones article that you used only mentions a handful over 10 years with some of those being lawfully justified and some leading to convictions. There have been more police officers murdered/ambushed sitting in their cars than unarmed unprovoked black men shot over the last ten years. I don't see it as a growing trend, at least not from the evidence given. But growing trend or not as I said it is tragic anytime someone loses their life for no reason. Even though the facts of this case are scarce it seems as if the one fact that is out there is that the young man and the officer scuffled and out of that he was shot. If you fight with a man with a gun there is a chance you may be shot.

If one unarmed black person is unjustly shot by a cop it's an issue. That cop should be dealt with as any other citizen would. As far as an upward trend of police killing unarmed blacks, you haven't shown any evidence of that.

Being black is just how some are born, and walking down the street shouldn't be a dangerous life decision... That's not a dangerous life decision...in most of the cases if the person followed the orders of the police officer instead of fighting none of these happen. The first thing a police officer is thinking when confronting someone he doesn't know is his own personal safety. That's why they ask people to show me your hands, it's not some macho domination kick, it is to make sure they have control of the situation. Guess what they do the EXACT same thing to white people also.

The deadspin article repeated a lot of the same cases except they through in Trayvon. What does Trayvon have to do with police killing unarmed blacks?
