I am surprised that you are saying that it is the liberals who are "uneducated". The opening post questioned "uneducated voters", no reference to liberal or conservative. Yet, the first group you think of as "uneducated" are those on the left. Once again, very surprised.

 

Not even close to what I was saying. I'm simply saying that it is unAmerican to make people take a test to vote and to even suggest it or to be for that is summed up perfectly my mcpapa's post. Just let the white property owners vote and all the problems of our country will be solved.

I agree. It is not even a conservative or a liberal issue either. People are just plain...LOST...mentally, financially, emotionally, and spiritually. We can't and shouldn't blame the young people whose music and habits I may not understand. However, I can and do pick on a lot of my peers of my age group who just don't care about their neighbor, who have no clue about life or morals or ethics, and can't see beyond their next self-pleasure seeking activity. Can I double post this in the RANT thread?

Don't forget about that pesky 19th Amendment. Need to repeal that.

Well, since one of the more important things in life there's no test required, having kids and raising them to be decent people. I dare say a civics test to vote wouldn't work either. Might be a good idea for at least one.

If you look at the states list of when they adopted the amendment the "Old South" are the last ones to do so. Hence the notion of it being a regional contention.

I must admit to being astounded when I read threads like this. In virtually every other situation, the majority of P&R posters want less government and are passionate about preserving individual/Constitutional rights. Then, the subject comes up of voting, and all of a sudden we want to find ways to strip people of the right that separates our form of government from any other, which, conversely, we want to protect.

 

Guys...you take the bad with the good. And paramount should be that we preserve the rights of ALL...not just those we deem "fit" to ave them. Constitutional rights aren't "earned", they're inalienable.
