Fair enough. However, it is a tournament w/ over half of the state's teams involved. If you win a statewide football tournament w/ teams from A-AAA, you're looked at a legit team. You win the equivalent in basketball and it is scoffed at. I respect it and think that they earned rings.

Good Point. I'll agree with you but football and basketball are very different sports and can be a little hard to compare. But I have always thought not enough attention was given to the All "A" classic. Winning it is a big deal and something to be really proud of.

How many All A tournaments have you seen to make the observation there are usually no decent teams? In the past 10 years NewCath/Holy Cross have almost had a free pass to the state finals in AA football. Very seldom even challanged with a lot of running clocks. This has NOT been the case in All A basketball. Since you never went to a small school it obviously bothers you that smaller schools get some attention, but keep telling yourself it doesn't mean anything if that makes you feel better.

One your first sentence: I guess good is a subjective term. Not sure how many "good" teams you think there are annually in the upper three classes, but it's not many. You may have to beat one "good" team to win state, maybe two.

 

On your second sentence: You're way off. Look at the list of the past all A champions. Nearly all of them are also ranked in the state's overall top 10. Shelby Valley won the overall state title recently.

NewCath beat Trinity at Trinity last year. How's that for "big time."

 

On your last two sentences: I have zero clue how you can think winning a tournament with 31 like sized schools is more difficult than winning a tournament with 124 like sized schools. Interesting take on math you learned at your "big school".

 

Many of the most ardent football fans on this board will agree that football in this state is watered down. If you want to take shots at the "A", whatever. But I wouldn't use football to support your argument.

It's obvious that your not a NCC fan, but have some class and show some respect. I believe that most on here follow just about any and all 9th Region schools and their teams being basketball, football or whatever.

 

It's also obvious that the All-A means something to the schools, coaches and players from these All-A schools. Don't diminish their hard work just because you don't agree with something.

Going to guess Erik Anderson unless the football team makes a deep run in the playoffs like the last several years. If they do, then it may well be his brother Brian or anyone that is not playing on the football team.

Doesn't do anything that makes you say "wow" and not as strong or athletic as Grant and Tanner but definetly a hard working kid that just gets after it at both ends. High motor goes a long way in high school basketball.

Luke is perhaps going to be the best Moeves to play at NewCath. Smooth floor game and can really shoot. He's probably still growing as well. The 5th starter could be Luke, Brian Anderson or Seth Freppon at the start of the season. Both will see minutes.

I can't wait to see the year Weyer has. He'll explode this year.
