July 18, 201412 yr I'll go in the opposite direction. Make a 2pt and a 3pt FT line. To get 3 points, you would have to make it from half court. You'd like Baseketball. We played a version in college quite a bit, based off the movie. Fun shooting game. Won me several pitchers of beer on that.
July 18, 201412 yr Nope...back to the think tank Getslow. FT's can actually be an exciting part on the game, especially at the end of a close game. Sure a game with 100 whistles being blown can lack flow and excitement...but that's not the free throw's fault.
July 19, 201412 yr I have been involved in camp situations where they play games this way. Blue Chip camp being one. I think Bolus just was too cheap to pay someone to keep an actual book. Georgetown Team Camp played by these rules until the final minute of each half. Summer only in my opinion.

July 19, 201412 yr I think NBA Coaches should get 2 challenges towards flopping calls. Not sure if the officials at the game, or league office should review but if a foul is called in a situation where flopping has occurred to get the foul. Team can challenge the foul call. If Officials/league, review and deem it was flopping, reverse the foul call plus, that team has to play a man down for 2 timed minutes of the clock. If it is deemed there was not flopping, the challenging team, gets a technical foul called on them, 2 shots and the ball (plus what ever the actual foul call would lead to from the original play) That would stop flopping. (yes i know mixes in a little hockey rules, but come on doesn't a little 4 on 5 in the nba sound exciting!!!)
July 19, 201412 yr As I began to read the first post I was expecting the fouling team to have to play a "Man Down" as your suggestion. I didn't read this post before my post above, lol.
July 19, 201412 yr One of the old timers might need to clarify for me, but I feel like my dad has talked to me about how in basketball you used to have the option to shoot free throws. If you preferred on a foul, you could take the ball out of bounds instead, or something like that. The NBA had the three for two rule until '81. If you fouled the opponent while over the limit you had the opportunity to shoot an extra foul shot if you missed one. If you had a two shot foul it was three to make two if you made the hoop you shot a second foul shot if you missed the and one.
July 20, 201412 yr I love outside the box thinking. I am not a fan of this particular idea. I wouldn't mind discussing eliminating the foul limits in the NBA for individual players. I am not a fan of players fouling out, necessarily.
July 20, 201412 yr I thought about that too at first, but with fewer stoppages in play, I feel like a guy like Shaq has to take a seat much more often. One the NBA's all time greats taking a seat much more often is a good thing?
