Im very glad to report that Mark Maynard did NOT pick Ashland to win, or even make the finals. I would like to thank him very much for not placing his curse on us!

I think at this point Fairview has to be the favorite. My darkhorse is Rowan.

Great point. This region is so wide open! I would not be surprised to see anyone win. Well, maybe Menifee. But anyone else has a LEGITAMATE shot at this thing. Your right, I think you have to say that Fairview is the favorite but other than that, everyone seems about equal. Who gets hot? That will be your winner.

I see Fairview as the safe pick for the ADI. The View is 9-4 against the teams remaining in the tourney for a winning percentage of 69.2%. This is the best winning percentage of any team remaining against all the other teams remaining. Their biggest loss to any of the remaining 16th region teams was 5 points. They are the only remaining team not to have suffered a double digit loss to any of the other remaining teams.

 

Elliott is the only team to defeat Fairview twice this season, and they have to get past Ashland in round one. I like Elliott’s chances if they control the pace and hit their shots.

 

IMO, the winner of the Elliott - Ashland game will be playing in the final.

 

Fairview can beat West by 15. Fairview can beat Rowan or Russell by 5.

 

Fairview can beat Ashland or Elliott by 5 in the final, although I see Elliott as the tougher match up for them.

 

The great thing is that none of this matters. This is March in the 16th Region, and this year more than any other, it can be anyone’s game on any given night.

Hard To Beat A Team Three Times In A Season But The Eagles Have Easily Handled The Comets Twice. Got To Think The Winner Of Elliott And Ashland Should Be In The Finals. I Look For Rowan To Pull Out The Victory Against Russell And If Elliott Can Shoot Well From The Outside They Can Get By The Tomcats.

 

That is what Morgan thought! But I agree that Fairview SHOULD win this one. I think that Ashland will beat Elliott. If they can do it at Sandy Hook, they should be able to do it at Morehead. But anything is possible. Rowan should beat Russell and Greenup should be Menifee, but I don't think that these two games will make any difference. It will either be Elliott, Ashland or Fairview going to Rupp this year!

Hard to predict a winner...

 

Elliott has the best offensive capabilities of any team left

 

Ashland has the best poise possibly of any team left

 

Fairview has the best combinations and match ups that will trump teams of any team left

 

Greenup will have the most energy of any team left

 

Russell is a ? right now. Vanhoose and Blair are it on the offensive end. Can't hit a free throw all year. But it's a new week and they've "survived"

 

Menifee's size will give Greenup Co. problems potentially

 

West Carter have another "perfect" game in them?

 

Rowan County's Martin and Daniel can equalize Russell, difference maybe Jared Hitch in the Tuesday opener...or better yet 6'7" Blake Pettit against Russell Reserve Ross Turner.

 

The 3 point line, Free throws, and Rebounding in that order will determine this year's 16th region champion.
