9th Region Draw and Predictions

Featured Replies

Holmes beat dixie AT dixie by 15 the first time they played...why do some people think just because Holmes gets beat by covcath that they are done and will get beat in the first round??

I don't think Nate Edmonson has been scoring much recently, and judging from the Holmes-CCH game, he does not seem happy with that and has been forcing up some shots. Also when Dixie gets hott from 3 they could quite possibly beat anyone in this region, and many are predicting that they won't go down easy. Granted, neither will Holmes, but this season is the end of the road for many Dixie players.

Cant argue that...sitting in the stands at the covcath game i was wondering why he was chucking up threes in a close game when they just need baskets..Nate has been kinda out of it lately but i look for him to get back on track in the region tournament...this group wants it too bad to pack it up after the first round...while you can say that about others too, i just dont see any team outside of covcath or highlands knocking the dawgs off on a neutral court

Two injured Dixie players that night and they shot about 12%, as well..... that was a bad part of the season for the colonels but they are coming into the game this time on a five game win streak. With a little bit of confidence, completely healthy team, and as mentioned before, five starting seniors, this will not be the same game as last time. Should be the best game of the first round....

who was injured in the first game? i was unaware of this.

But this should definetly be the best first round game of the region...winner of this walks to the finals.

Josh Keener sat the second half with a back injury (after shooting like 0/11 in the first half) and Justin Cole was playing with an injured calf.

I would never count Holmes out, they are too talented. However, they are mentally not where they once where. Edmonson is now being asked to guard bigger people in side, and he doesn't appear to like it...he looks out of sorts on both ends. Henderson is trying to do too much, which he can against most, but not against HHS and CCH imo. If Holmes has early success, look out...if someone gets them on the ropes at any time in the game (10 plus deficit)...they may be out.

Also wasn't Rice still on the team when they beat Dixie. I know one player doenst make a team. But you have to look at Holmes since they lost him. They lost to NCC, Boone County, and CCH. I think anyone who is playing Holmes right now has a shot.

austin hill has been injured the whole season with an inured back and nate has been playing on pretty much one ankle...also henderson wasnt even supposed to play against covcath because of a knot on his leg that was affecting his running and jumping but all three have sucked it up...no matter how far this team goes, i must say they are pretty tough but good to hear keener and cole will be healthy...good luck to both

They are tough for hanging in there through a rough, rough season....I think a lot of people are playing injured though. That is why depth becomes so important during regional and state play.

Holmes played this game without Rice...Austin Hill drops thirty on the colonels to prove they could still get it done without Mr Rice... and both the boone county and NCC games were holmes' to win...then the referees took over...not making excuses but if you were at the games you know what im talking about

Holmes depth has definetly gotten better with the absence of rice but like 2short said if holmes gets down it could affect their game...but being that its region tournament, i dont see that happening...duran and company will come to play...cant wait until tomorrow night!

Good point....I forgot to mention that...Hill is absolutely awesome, but you can see him struggling right now. He is definitely hurting. He still gets quite a bit done. But mentally he looks frustrated a lot, knowing he needs to do even more and seems to be hampered. As a group, they just look defeated when things don't go there way....they used to just step it up a level....I do wish them and all the teams the best.

I was talking about Hill

Hill has been battling an injured back since football season...but as far as them getting down when things dont do their way, thats something i think Duran or Austin need to step up and do something about...but i guess it all comes down to how bad you want it...hard work will beat out talent anyday... a wise coach once told me

Agrreed. However, Holmes' talent generally dictates their toughness. Against most teams, they can 'athleticize' their way to a positive attitude. Vs the supposed top two right now, they will need mental toughness to dictate...and depending upon how well the supposed 4 thru 8 play, it may not work either.
