There's a serious lack of diversity on the high court. The fact that the five-old-man majority is all Roman Catholic is the elephant in the room that no one talks about. (Sotomayor also shares the same faith, so that's six of nine.) There are no Protestants on the Supreme Court. There are no atheists on the high court. There are no non-Harvard or non-Yale people on the high court. There's also a definite East Coast bias.

Absolutely ridiculous. There have never been more women on the Supreme Court. Nor has there ever been more blacks. This is the most diverse Supreme Court ever.

 

What should we do, Twotoplace, establish a quota system to ensure even more diverse, loony left wing members on the court?

The fact that a person who utters the absolutely nonsensical lies on a routine basis was ever Speaker of the House perfectly illustrates the uphill battle that this country faces to restore sanity to our laws and public policies. She is a scary woman. I hope that she is not half as stupid as her speeches make her sound.

Pelosi is off base on extending the Hobby Lobby decision way beyond its impact. She is just using the opportunity to hype voters with an election nearing.

 

However, don't underestimate the impact that the contraception/birth control issue has. I would like to see the stats to see if I am right, but my guess is more than 60% of all female voters will vote against anyone who wants to limit access to birth control, etc. This is why Pelosi is going on her rant on the topic.

If that happens, Pelosi and all the liberals will have a big "I told you so" to throw at the Supreme Court. And the Supreme Court will soon be revisiting the issue for more clarity. They tried to draw their decision very narrowly. We will find out soon if they opened Pandora's box on this issue.

Interesting observation ... I disagree ... but still interesting. What the high court did was sanction a form of discrimination against women based on religion. Sounds like what's going on in the Middle East.

Getting off track here a little, but I say the biggest demographic Republicans need to worry about is Latinos. That is a growing voter group and a widening gap toward Dems. One Republican who gets how critical this is - Rand Paul. He is working immigration issues harder than any other Republican because he knows how important the Latino vote is. Latinos are the most important group that elected Obama in the last election. We can take this discussion to another thread if people want to. Let's get back to the Hobby Lobby/Pelosi track.
