July 13, 201412 yr Sending that runner will likely cost them the game. No wonder the Reds base runners are so stupid. They have an idiot coaching them.
July 13, 201412 yr Is Mark Berry healthy now? Is there anyway we can rehire him? This Smith guy is terrible.
July 13, 201412 yr You guys really think the runner should have been held up on Bruce's hit? That thought never crossed my mind. Even if he gets thrown out, it is the same as if you sacrifice bunt because you end up with runners at 2nd and 3rd with one out. The ball was a grounder through the infield. It took a perfect rocket throw to get him. They made the play. Tip your hat. I send the runner every time on that ball and he will get thrown out at best 2 of 10 times.

Took the bat out of Meso's hand. Absolute stupidity to send him, why risk it?
July 13, 201412 yr Took the bat out of Meso's hand. Absolute stupidity to send him, why risk it? At least 95% of the coaches and managers in baseball send the runner.
July 13, 201412 yr At least 95% of the coaches and managers in baseball send the runner. Do you want Meso up with bases loaded no outs, or Ludwick with one? You have to know your personel
July 13, 201412 yr Do you want Meso up with bases loaded no outs, or Ludwick with one? You have to know your personel I like my 80% odds of Santiago scoring over my 40% odds that Mesoraco will get that run home.

First. 88% chance to score with bases loaded and 0 out. 45% chance with 2 on and 1 out. Ignorant decision. Second. You leave it up to Meso, not Luddy and Pena. 3rd base coach MUST know the entire situation. Just beyond stupid with Cutch due up in the 12th...
July 13, 201412 yr I like my 80% odds of Santiago scoring over my 40% odds that Mesoraco will get that run home. You think it is 80% a guy scores rounding 3rd against a MLB level RF from 250 feet? Throw wasn't perfect, Martin made great scoop and Santiago was out by 3 steps. 50% at best Santiago scores. 88% you get run home from 3rd with 0 out and bases loaded. 45% with 2 on and 1 out...
July 13, 201412 yr I like my 80% odds of Santiago scoring over my 40% odds that Mesoraco will get that run home. If Ludwick was going to be up and not Meso then I agree, but you can't take the bat out of his hands. You just can't
July 13, 201412 yr If Ludwick was going to be up and not Meso then I agree, but you can't take the bat out of his hands. You just can't On that dribbler to the outfielder, I "take the bat out of his hands" every time. Every time. Like I said, odds are 80% Santiago scores. Odds are 40% that Mesoraco gets the run home from 3rd. Easy decision.

Polcanco is a 5 tool player, and Smith should have known his arm strength. Bases loaded nobody out and Meso coming up. Even my 11 year old daughter knew it was a stupid decision.
