He is right to an extent. Im sure there are plenty of great players who have fun off seasons but they just don't make it as public. However until a player can publicly have fun and still be a top player then it will be looked down on

 

. If manziel can still be a top player like this then we may see a change in how top players in the next generation approach things. It will be interesting to see how he pans out. With him being in the division I hope he doesnt pan out.

Uumm, thought football was the life of a professional football player. If he wants to be a leader, that's not something you can turn on during a season and turn off in the off-season. JMO.

IMO, if you're a professional sports player, yes. His job is not done in an office but in public so the public has a preconceived idea about who he is by how he "performs and acts" in public whether on the field/court or in a bar. (I hope I'm making my point clear. Maybe I used the word public too many times. :lol2:). And it could be that I may expect too much from professional athletes of today.

So let me get this straight. Manziel goes out and parties, legally mind you, and has some beers, smokes, etc. Didn't drink and drive, didn't smoke anything illegal, didn't get caught doing drugs, didn't get arrested, etc.

 

BUT....he is being called out for not being professional because he partied with Gronk, Mayweather and Beiber (maybe a bad choice).

 

As he's already said he studies that playbook inside and out 5-6 days a week and enjoys his time away from the field. As the coaches have said, he's progressed tremendously through minicamp heading into the training camps before preseason.

 

 

The media is obsessed with Manziel so every detail of his life is being way over-analyzed. Put it to ya like this, we all go to work and go about a normal routine and have fun outside of work as well. As long as it's kept to a certain degree then it's okay and no one else cares. IF the media followed us 24/7 and followed us partying with our friends then we'd be criticized even though we've been doing the same thing as before, only now it's blown out of proportion by everyone.

He is no different than most kids his age as far as wanting to have a good time. He hasn't been in trouble, I'd let it go.

I don't see why they can't have their own life and interests away from football — there's no rule that says everybody in the league has to love it so much that they eat, breathe and sleep football. As long as they're doing their job, what do you care?
