June 12, 201412 yr Our president has screwed America by letting so many ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS INTO AMERICA. We are being over run. Our cost of everything will go up due to giving government assistance, health care, food, etc. now we also get new and more disease into our country. How can anyone say they are for all these illegal people crossing into our borders. It's not just Mexicans, it's a lot of Central America. Hardly a new problem. Immigration issues have been going on for decades. As a country we've shown it's not a priority for us. Could be partly humanitarian. Could be economics i.e. cheap labor for companies. Regardless of the reasons, it's a long-term issue. We granted amnesty in 1985 or 1986 to millions of illegal aliens. 30 years later we're still talking about it. It's not a priority for voters so it goes on.

Put me in charge of illegal immigration. I put Army on border to secure the Canadian and Mexican border. I build a wall that won't be climbed with constant surveillance and anyone caught trying to get over is detained and sent back. I send as many as we can catch that are illegal in America back to their country. I talk with farmers/businesses to determine how and who is going to be allowed here. I allow so. Any each year to come to America. No more free ride. And I don't care what Mexico thinks about it.

First of all it prevents terrorist from coming into the country and creating sleeper cells. Slows the drug traffic a lot. Keeps gang bangers from coming in. Helps slow down disease they bring in. Helps keep what few jobs that are available open for college and high school kids Helps slow down criminals from coming into America. I also put an end to any illegal immigrant from being able to use kids as a way to get citizenship and stop the if your born here you are a citizen. If your not legal then you are a citizen of the country your family is from. If they are legal here then fine, if not your not. Days are over for freebies.

June 16, 201412 yr While there really are not any stats to back this up, it is my understanding that MOST coming across the border WANT to work and would love to not need government hand outs. They are also willing to take the jobs many multigeneration Americans feel are below them and DO NOT want. I am more than happy to get those guys on the path to citizenship. Maybe start them out on a guest worker program, get them paying taxes even if their wages are so low that they really don't pay income taxes, who cares, they have to start somewhere. With the right work ethic, learning English, and some time, maybe they can get to the point of earning enough where they contribute to the tax base. I look at todays migrants not much different than the Irish, Germans, Italians, Poles, etc. who starting coming over in hoards a little over 150 years ago and they helped build the US also. I know many will say they are taking jobs from current Americans but just like the immigrants 150 years ago, when they take a job, they also become a consumer and consumers build the economy and build future jobs. Now, the Zetas who are sneaking in due to the drug trade, sending them back really doesn't accomplish much, they will just work their way right back, wall or no wall. Unfortunately, the only way to keep the Zetas out of the US may be nation wide legalization of marijuana. When several states legalized it, it supposedly noticeably hurt Zetas and other Mexican drug gangs. I am not thrilled about nation wide legalization of marijuana but I can't help to admit that the drug war has been a failure and I don't see winning it. So, if we legalize the least dangerous drug and that will save some tax dollars and hurt gangs, I guess go for it.
June 16, 201412 yr IMO this is one of the biggest issues facing the US economy. Food Stamps, Education, College Tuition, Medical Care, Housing and even Social Security is being provided for people in this country illegally. Los Angeles county alone spends over $600 Million per year on education the children of illegal immigrants. It is estimated that 30% of Federal and State Prison Inmates are illegal immigrants that came to our country to be Felons. As a whole the US spends $12Billion a year for primary and secondary education for illegal immigrants.

June 17, 201412 yr I can't believe I'm about to say this (sigh) but I kind if agree with Mnt Ref. But with military. Here in Bucharest the Jandermaria, the Romanian military police, helps patrol everywhere. I would also like to see the military help patrol high crime, gang and hard drug areas.

It's not just the troops in the Guard you are involving. Employers can't afford to lose valuable employees for long stretches, all the time. Sure the Guard gets paid but not always at the rate their main job supports their family. Can you not think beyond the hyperbole in your statement n see the logistics issues toy suggest? Now if you want to move active military I can see that much more plausible than always calling out the National Guard.
