Well I like my fantasy land. We're going to continue to disagree, the popular opinion on here is that 60-75 joints (the amount of weed he had) is no big deal.

 

I think it is a big deal, I expect Snoop Lion to have 60-70 joints not James Quick, telling him to "make better decisions" doesn't help with a habit that deep. He is also 19-20 years old and could be a millionaire someday. I am dumbfounded that you don't did a kid that age having that many joints an issue that merits more than a "hey don't do that anymore."

I have no problem with a normal college student having marijuana. I'm not sure how much is too much, but 1.5 ounces is more pot than any one person would have for strictly personal use (in my opinion). Most states that have legalized marijuana only allow "up to one ounce"...but that's not really the direction this thread took.

 

I have a problem with this situation in particular because Quick & Hatcher are student-athletes who are governed by (and supposed to abide by) NCAA & school/team rules. Obviously the public is going to be harder on Quick because he was the one (allegedly) with the most pot & the scales.

 

They have the privilege of playing sports in college. As a result, they're held to a higher standard. Evidenced by their actions, they've failed to meet those standards.

Never said he shouldn't get in trouble. He broke the law and to a lesser extent the team rules. I'm just saying if he doesn't get in trouble I'm not losing sleep. There are plenty of actual serious crimes being committed that I'll spend my time worrying about. But I guess I'm one if those with a "loose" opinion.

Well, the Cards just took 3 of UGA's finest so I doubt that even if a scholarship opened up that it would go to a "rules abiding" player.

I can understand 1 time offenses, but after that, I don't care how good you are, you're a cancer to the team and you need to go. C. Behannon (UofL) learned the hard way as well. There are several DI athletes now sitting at home or playing lower division ball because they couldn't follow the rules on substance abuse. This is where the NCAA should step in and start revoking scholarships. Take it out of the teams hands, because if a kid knows the coach doesn't care, he won't break the habit.

I got no clue, I was just putting some info out there. Anymore people get arrested cause they try to hide it, which makes it Tampering which is a felony. If they just handed the weed over to the police, they get cited like it's a speeding ticket :lol2:
