I support legalization of marijuana but an ounce & a half of weed is a significant amount of pot. Is he the biggest dealer on the block? Absolutely not, but it's still more than most people have & certainly more than every "casual smoker" has.

Consider this: An ounce is 28 grams. Quick had an ounce & a half (roughly 42 grams). A joint is somewhere between .5 & 1.0 grams. So, if he's rolling monster doobies, he has enough for 60+ joints.

Your second paragraph is why I don't believe he deserves a 20k plus scholly to represent the school. 60 joints is not a small amount in my opinion. It's either someone with a pretty bad marijuana prob or someone doing worse with it.

What about they idea that they bought the weed together, and had the scale to 1.) make sure they didn't get ripped off, and 2.) make sure each got an equal half?

I'm assuming that amount it isn't cheap...example 2,486 why college athletes don't need "salaries". They are doing just fine without them.

Would people think differently if it was another drug and not one so many themselves have enjoyed? Heroin, Meth, Oxcy, Crack, Powder...would a miniscule amount of those be okey dokey as well?

I just think regardless of what it was they are being awfully selfish and not thinking about their teammates by putting themselves in a position to not be on the field...just be cause they felt getting high was more important than their family, education, team and their scholarship.

1 - No. Weed is different and I haven't enjoyed any of the above, unless prescribed.

2 - There wouldn't be a team to field if you kicked every kid off for smoking weed, underage drinking...etc.

Any of those would be a much bigger deal.

Then what about the grinder?

So it's OK because a lot of them do it? If schools are drug testing aren't they knowingly putting them self at risk of getting kicked off of most teams? Just stupid and selfish IMO.

Not at any point did I say it was okay. Point was, a lot of kids do it. Yes, they are putting themselves at risk and yes, it's stupid and selfish.

Point was that a lot are doing it not that it's okay.

Furthermore, throwing the book at these two (legally or athletically speaking) will have zero impact on others that do it.

Exactly a few decades ago people didn't accept weed, underage drinking and DUI's. Now it's normal. Other drugs will become normal in the future because people turn a blind eye. As long as these athletes are catching TDs and it doesn't affect our families directly, nobody cares.

Then what about the grinder?

What about it? Still doesn't mean they are dealing. Even a casual smoker can/would have a grinder. Makes it easier to roll.

What have you done to prevent college students from doing drugs?

When? The 70's?
