June 3, 201412 yr It depends in large part on the other quarterbacks in the discussion. In no particular order, Peyton Manning, Drew Brees, and Aaron Rodgers are regarded by many as the best three quarterbacks currently in the league. Veterans with viable claims of varying degrees include, in no particular order, Philip Rivers,Joe Flacco, Ben Roethslisberger, Jay Cutler, Tony Romo, Matthew Stafford, and Matt Ryan. (Two years after his second Super Bowl win, the jury suddenly is out on Eli Manning.) Young players deemed to be approaching the league’s elite are Andrew Luck, Cam Newton, Colin Kaepernick, Russell Wilson, Nick Foles, and maybe Robert Griffin III. So where is Brady? The question of whether he’s currently one of the best five overlooks the more important question of whether he’s the same guy who won three Super Bowls in the first five years of his NFL career. While the chicken-and-egg notion that he lacks the same weapons as other star quarterbacks gives Brady a pass for some, Brady won those Super Bowls without Randy Moss and Wes Welker. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2014/06/03/is-tom-brady-still-a-top-five-quarterback/
June 3, 201412 yr Author Not to be silly but Dalton isn't even on the radar and he is talking big money contract. Back to the question, is Brady still a top 5 QB?
June 3, 201412 yr No question about it. He's right there in the elite group with Rodgers, Brees, and Peyton. Those 4 are still a decent ways ahead of the rest with Andrew Luck and Russell Wilson headlining the next tier.
June 3, 201412 yr I still think he and Manning are 1 and 2 and it's not even close to #3. Brady has had some junk to work with but I think he's been great the bulk of the past few seasons.
June 3, 201412 yr I know Brees has been lauded as in the top 3, frankly, I've never seen him as anything more than a second tier guy. He's very good, but no way in the world I'd put him in the same category a passer as Brady Manning or Rodgers.

I thought he was slipping but I'd take him 3rd overall this year no questions.

Those 4 are still a decent ways ahead of the rest with Andrew Luck and Russell Wilson headlining the next tier. Wilson will slide down the list once he gets paid. He's not as good as the great ones or the next tier IMO.
June 3, 201412 yr Not to be silly but Dalton isn't even on the radar and he is talking big money contract. Back to the question, is Brady still a top 5 QB? There isn't a QB on that list Dalton is for sure better than. There are only a couple that it is questionable. Scary thought if he gets paid.

He's very good, but no way in the world I'd put him in the same category a passer as Brady Manning or Rodgers. I think most of the people who name Brees that high are people who follow fantasy football because Brees has definitely been top three in regards to points scored over the last couple of years. I think Brees belongs in the top tier. Just behind guys like Manning, Brady, Rodgers. I'd put him 4th, maybe 3rd.
June 3, 201412 yr Brady should not even be a question, he is 1 or 2. There is no one in the league I want to face less in the last two minutes of a game, unless it is a torrential downpour.
June 3, 201412 yr Tough argument not to have Peyton and Brady at the top. I'd take Rodgers, Brees and Eli in the next group and then throw in Flacco, Rothlisberger, Luck, Stafford and Ryan.
