Congrats to Arlo & Conner. Don't know the man, but trust the people who do. They, uniformly, view him as a great coach, leader, teacher (of the game -- no idea if he is also a teacher by profession) & person. Represent the 9th well.

 

I will analyze the game in detail when it is less painful to do so. Until then, thanks to those who do so much for our kids. Many of these same kids went through a similar disappointment in December. I said it then, and will repeat it now, there are not 2 better men I would trust my kid to go through this with than Dale Mueller and Jeremy Baioni.

 

If you leave the program better than you found it, you have done good work. These seniors have done so. I trust that those that come behind them will discharge this obligation just as nobly. The Birds have knocked on the door the last 3 seasons, a little harder in 2012 and 2014. That doesn't seem to work. In 2015, I recommend they simply kick it in!!!

It's obvious you are not familiar with BGP, this is a very common topic in all games where the season ends for one of the teams. But thanks for the suggestions.

Congrats to Arlo and Conner on a well played final. Pitching was excellent on both sides. S/O to SO Rick Raisor on a brilliant pitching performance for the Birds and to JR Ostertag on gritting his way through 5 scoreless innings as well.

 

As Coach Baioni said in his post game comments, the Birds just weren't able to cash in on the few scoring chances they had. Unlike the earlier 2 regional games vs. Beechwood and Dixie, where most of the damage was done with 2 outs, the Birds just couldn't get the clutch hit in the final. Kuddos to JR Ostertag and FR Craddock for making good pitches when they needed to.

 

Good luck to Conner vs. Boyd County, an upset winner of the 16th Region, on Tuesday.

Great win and a great run by the Cougars! Looks like the 33rd District again proved to be the best district top to bottom. Great job by all of the 33rd for scheduling tough teams all year and for developing great players. Good luck down state Conner! A lot of great kids and great players on that roster!

I am sure Clyde knows the Conner kids, but that was a good Highlands team. I believe the line up was something like this:

 

 

1st base: John Sebastian

2nd Base: Tim Nickle

SS: Mike Vories

3rd Base: Kevin Siple

Catcher: Dan Sullivan

Outfield: Louie Lee was one I think - the other 2 are escaping me.

 

2 of the top pitchers were Brian Rogg (just a soph I believe) and Dave Malone
